I pretty much like them equally these days, only I have more of a personal history with MJ.

MJ's lack of output over the last 20 years annoys me as much as the next person, however I find it downright ODD that certain people use that as a main point of criticism for him just for the sake of it. It's Madonna and Prince fans mainly I find. OK, so Madge and Prince are prolific, fine. But then again you all don't JUST like those artists.

Madge fans dog on Michael for his long gaps between albums, but then a lot of them also practically worship Kate Bush, Annie Lennox and George Michael, who have released FAR less than MJ, and unlike him never had the period of an album per year like MJ did between 1976-1982. He slowed down after tremendous success. So Prince didn't and all power to him for that. But Stevie Wonder did and no-one pisses on his parade.

If you were to just look at his six, solo, studio albums it is not much in a space of 30 years. And not all those 6 albums were great, IMO. For me personally I would say Off The Wall is his best work, followed by Thriller, followed by Dangerous. The rest are so, so IMO. By adding the Triumph and the Destiny albums as well as some of the Jackson 5 classics then you do a great body of work from him.

It's not really a fact. The phase I'm in right now would agree with you, so don't even bother arguing with me. It's still not really a "fact". Creating music is an art. You could say that MJ's instrument is/was his voice. Is George Michael not an artist either? I believe he writes melodies by humming into a tape recorder too.
