Zoot Woman.

I recently got the two Zoot Woman albums and I think they are great especially the first one Living In a Magazine.

I would never have heard of them if it wasn't for this site. SO I was hoping you could recommend me some similar albums I may also have missed or never heard of.

HELL YES. I love Zoot Woman. Stuart left and it just isn't the same with Beatrice on board. But I'm thankful for the two albums we did get from them. I was just thinking about the LIAM album earlier this afternoon. "It's Automatic," "Jessie," the title track and "Chicago, Detroit, L.A." are all top shelf.

I really feel their second album, too. That's my personal fave just for how deep and melodic it is. I really love how the first three tracks hit you. "Grey Day," "Taken It All" and "Gem" are just electronic knockouts. And the album just flows after that trifecta. "Hope In The Mirror," "Half Full of Happiness," perfect design/nighttime/cold weather album. They were definitely into their own groove on that one.

Romeoblu, you're right on the money with your recs, man.

Phoenix's United (2000). Great disc. Definitely has that soft electronic, guitar driven sound that's in the same vein of the Zoot Woman discs. Phoenix even laces jazz elements in it like sax and trombones. "Alphabetical" is cool, too. But "United" is definitely recommended. There's this amber-colored, AM Gold kinda sound that flows all over that album. thedoveoflove, check out the tracks "Too Young" and "If I Ever Feel Better" from that album -- gives you an idea of its whole sound. Very warm, cozy album.

Cut Copy's "Bright Like Neon Love" (2004, Modular Records) is strongly recommended, too. The album is irresistibly melodic, almost coma-like. You can get lost in this album and it feels like an extended dream. Check out "Time Stands Still" -- that track will kick your ass. "Saturdays," too. I really hope you pick either of these up.

Some more recs...

Erlend Øye / Unrest (2003)

Rich album. Great for this time of year. Erlend's another one of those artists who makes warm-sounding electronic music. The whole set feels like you're travelling. A track that has a Zoot Woman feel on here is "Sudden Rush." And there's a mix of early '00s production talent on that really diversifies the mood of the LP. My faves are "Every Party Has A Winner and a Loser," "Prego Amore" and "Like Gold."

Hot Chip / The Warning (2006)

One of my favorites from last year. The disc just flows. "Careful" is a dance stomper and then it segues into the melodic indie crooner "And I Was A Boy From School" (I really enjoy that song). "No Fit State" and "Colours" are in the same vein of Price/Blake/Blake. If you like stuff with a Kraftwerk/Eno-inspired sound this album will do it for you. There's warm stuff here, but there's also some straight up dance bangers like "Over and Over" and "Arrest Yourself."
