MADONNA to miss out this year!!?

Billboard Hot 100: Madonna to miss out this year?
Posted: 01 November 2007

Billboard's Keith Caulfield talks about how Madonna will miss out on charting on the Billboard Hot 100 this year - for the first time since 1983:

Madonna has had a single somewhere on The Billboard Hot 100 every year since 1983 debut with 'Holiday,' except in 2007. Her last single to chart on The Billboard Hot 100, 'Sorry,' spent its last week on the chart on April 16, 2006.

Eagle-eye chart watchers are now wondering 'Wait, how did Madonna have a single on the Hot 100 in 1988 and 2004, when she released no singles?'
Well, here's the answer: 1987's 'Causing a Commotion' spent its last week on the Hot 100 on Jan. 9, 1988 and 2003's 'Me Against the Music' spent its last week on the Hot 100 on Jan. 17, 2004.

So what are you waiting for Warner Brothers? Release a Madonna single before the end of the year to ensure that Madonna does not miss out on hitting the Billboard Hot 100 in 2007!

Aint nobody going to pay attention to that. She should have a club release dance remix of "The Beat Goes on"...trust me it will go #1.

What about "Hey You" being a single but not really? I mean, it is available on Itunes, no?

I think the fact that the "Confessions" singles didn't stretch out very well and keep making the Hot 100 (don't think the would have extended into 2007, but who knows) kind of speaks to Warners not doing a great job of pushing Madonna on radio (then again, we all know anyone over 30 has a hard time cutting it on the radio let alone the singles charts) and still using the maxi-singles to push her songs as singles. it helps reach her audience and hit number one on the dance charts, but doesn't build her audience a bit. But then again, if you're Madonna, that's kind of the best you can do....and if that's the case, Madonna and Warners better listen to fans when it comes to this boxed set. They can go through the motions with the new album but perhaps Live Nation will figure out something different to do.

Seriously though, I mean, with her making negotiations and working really hard on the album, I honesty don't feel she had time to do it. Had she planned to put out the album this year, we would've seen a chart single for this year but you know how that goes. Actually Madonna didn't enter any chart in 1988 or 1997 unless you're talking about DANCE records, then in that case, yep, she might make a rare break for it. lol

It's not about enterting the charts. It's about being on the Top 100. 1988 was cleared up ("Causin' A Commotion"'s last week was like the first week of 1988, so she just made it) and with 1997, I assume one if not both of the "Evita" singles was in the Top 100 at the time. The movie didn't come out until very late 1996 (I don't think I saw it until March or so).

24 years in a row is increbible. even though she got lucky a couple of those years with timing. Oddly enough I think "Jump" peaked at #105 (bubbling under Hot 100 chart) in January 2007
