Michael Jackson - Heartbreak Hotel/This Place Hotel

This has always been a burning question for me and I can't seen to get a clear answer. Does anyone know why (they) changed the title on the label from "Heartbreak Hotel" to "This Place Hotel?" My orginal pressing of the LP say's "Heartbreak Hotel." Why the running change?
wacky

I never really understood that one either.
I have the original on vinyl and then i remember when the cd's starting coming out and the title was changed.

there are tons of songs with similar titles that are completely different, so i don't get why the label felt like they needed to change it.

and then to change it to something as lame as "this place hotel" is kinda retarted.

Exactly! There are many songs that have the same title. Were the Jacksons just too paranoid? confuse As far as I'm concerned, the song will always be "Heartbreak Hotel".I refuse to use the lame 'replacement' title they came up with.

That's a good possibility.

I still call the song "Heartbreak Hotel".

I do too because that's what it actually is. It was "Heartbreak Hotel" on the vinyl and the vinyl was out first. Not only that, but the CD didn't come out until years later after the song had long gone out of style.

Oh, by the way, you have your thread listed as Michael Jackson. "Heartbreak Hotel" was by The Jacksons. We already have too many Michael Jackson threads but it's always nice to see one about The Jacksons. lol

Agree. There is quite a big difference between The Jacksons as a group and Michael as a solo artist. It's almost like comparing night and day.

As for the Heartbreak Hotel thing, I heard they changed the name so people wouldn't mix it up with the Elvis's Heartbreak Hotel-a very lame excuse.
