Am I new enough?

Anyways, I´ve registered because I like Prince and wanted to get some info about him.
Then I found out that there were many threads on Mike whom I have always loved. It was during the trial. there were many interesting threads and I was impressed at how much ppl here were watching the trial. Also I´ve noticed that some ppl over here are MJ fans too and know a lot about him, so I could learn something about Mike as well.

And than it is more fun (sometimes also very tiring though) to have discussion about him over here just because not everyone is a fan.

I do post here and there on the Prince threads as well, but probably not as much because there is not that much for me to argue about. lol

Dag, you're hardly new. At least I wouldn't consider you new. Definitely one of the sweetest MJ fans around, even when you disagree. hug

ah, thanks.

and guys seriously, have respect. u don't see us criticizing prince on mj messageboards. honestly, I like prince, but the attitude of some fans disturbs me a lil. I was on housequake yesterday, and they talked about mike being on the new ebony (which I bought! yay!) and I couldn't believe how many people talked about how the editors 'obviously' photoshopped mjs face.

but whatever floats ur boat I guess.

Yes, you do. Well, not necessarily you specifically, but you know what I mean.

Well I adore MJ. He's no.1 for me. But I'm a child of the 80s so I also love Prince, Madonna, Whitney, Janet, George Michael, Cyndi Lauper. I love my boy Stevie too. And at the org you get so much info about ALL of the stars. I visit MJ boards (was banned from 1). But on Mike's boards they're mostly into Mike.
I never was so big on posting as reading (That goes for any board). I post a lot here mostly to defend Mike. I'll leave when the hateration gets ridiculous, but I always come back. You people are real music fans, and not to repeat but I learn about ALL of my favorites.

Sometimes it might be MJ, or Kanye's "Graduation" cover, or some random anime/skating wallpaper. The next one will be Mel B razz

If I want to get sued anytime soon, I'll just make Prince my background! lol

All Prince fans should convert to Jacksonism now that Prince has shunned us all. lol. That'd really show him. His fanbase now following his biggest rival in the industry. The King to his Prince. He wouldn't know what the fuck to do.

I found the PPML email digest by searching Yahoo for Prince in 1996. It later turned into the Org. I've never belonged to an MJ fan site.

That's it? you should've explained it to me, foo! lol

I found the org back in 2001 when I started to get REALLY into Prince. I was a MJ fan since the age of 2(no lie, I vividly hearing Human Nature and being hooked since)
I didn't go to the site much because there was a lot of MJ bashers and thought, "If that's how Prince fans are, I ain't goin there", but I've been a regular for awhile now.
I'm a member of KOP, MJJVault, and Okayplayer

I can certainly relate to that. I came here because I'm a Prince fan but I'm not a crazed obsessed Prince fanatic....well, maybe I once was in the early years before Prince's style change in 1985. lol Anyway, the reason I'm still here is because of the "Music: Non-Prince" section of the org. It is definately the best place on the internet for discussing old school funk. I haven't posted on Housequake in years because their general music section is absolutely horrible. I've also seen a few other websites for discussing music in general but there is too much shit hop on the sites. The good thing about this place is there is a lot of people that hate shit hop just like I do so I feel at home. lol

I gravitated to this forum a couple of years ago because it was a great place to talk about music. The MJ forums that I was familiar with didn't seem to be well educated on music in general. If it didn't pertain to post-Thriller Michael Jackson, it was hard to get a convo started. I have to say though, I have learned to avoid most MJ threads here, unless they're strictly related to music. There is an uncomfortable fanaticism here, only its anti-MJ. Trust me, I get creeped out by certain "pro" MJ fanatics too. But I have nothing but respect for Mike, and I'll always keep it real. You won't see me doing an about face on certain forums just to appease the majority. *cough* It's actually made me pretty unpopular, but oh well.

Yes. Michael is my favorite artist but I also love Prince (It is possible to be a fan of both men) as well as many other different artists. I like this board though because there are a lot of people here who are quite knowledgeable about music and there are also some really good/interesting discussions on here as well.

though I like whitney as a casual listener, your jokes about her always "crack" me up, cause I had a field day since that one day in the airport with changing her lyrics around to relate to smoking

weed's not right, it's not okay, I'm gonna smoke it anyway

everytime my mom sings saving all my love for you or I wanna dance with somebody, I sing weed over love, and I wanna smoke weed with my bobby

however, I can't wait to hear the smokin' new joints she's coming out with smile

anyways back on topic, mj fans never want to talk about random 80's songs and bands, cause they weren't old enough or don't care about 80's music other than mj and janet.

I'm a big MJ fan, but I have to say, the arrival of some MJ fanatics here has killed the Non music section for me.

It's blatantly overrun, but the MJ supporting mods seem to let it slide year after year.

Its obvious to everyone that MJ/JJ create far too much traffic compared to other artists, but no mod seems to have the balls to calm it or make a sticky.

Its a shame, this used to me my favourite part of the site. It used to be a fact that we were all mega prince fans, and we were sharing other interests. Now we have people that post all about MJ, and nothing about Prince.

The whole nature of the forum has been lost.

That's a lame excuse IMO and i've noticed that seems to be the attitude of a lot of MJ fans on his boards. They don't want to discuss anything before "Thriller", well actually before "Bad" actually because a lot of his fans seem to think "Thriller" is overrated and don't really like talking about it, it's all about "Dangerous" and "History" for most of the people on his fan boards. When I try to have discussions about MJ's Pre-Thriller music, the majority of them don't want to discuss it and tell me that they can't appreciate "Off The Wall" and other albums because it was before their time but they way I look at it is that good music is good music, it doesn't matter when it came out. A lot of the stuff I listen to was well before my time but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate it. The whole "It was way before my time so I can't appreciate it" attitude that some MJ fans have is silly.

I'm a big MJ fan too but I agree that there are far too many Michael (and Janet) threads on this site but MJ/JJ threads are the ones that seem to get the most comments for some reason. I've seen people post some interesting stuff on here about Billie Holiday, The Isley Brothers and other great artists, but those threads hardly get any replies. The problem is not soley MJ fans though, it's the anti-MJ people too 'cause trust me those silly MJ threads would not go on for 14 or 15 pages if it was only MJ fans posting in it.

There are loads of Prince threads on MJ forums at the moment after the UK shows, since Europe incl. UK seem to be MJ's biggest supporters. Tonnes of MJ fans have finally crossed over to Prince-territory.
