You don't have to get twisted. I wanted to know from alphastreet what does he/she mean by objective. Why would he get flammed on a Michael Jackson site just for being objective and therefore have to come to Prince site to say it, even though he or she is an ardent fan. And quite frankly I don't think saying someone looking crap is full of hatred. It can be class as objective if that is how he truely looks like.

Intention is not the issue though. Criticising people's look is just inappropriate.period

I think everyone no matter how they look like, should be told they're beautiful...

thats absurd and against nature. so now we have to say MJ is as beautiful as a real beatufil NATURAL man?

he looks like shit and thats a true fact.

MJ did all the surgeries so to look BETTER but things went wrong.

Well, he's a kindly spirited guy, not to mention very talented, who brought entertainment and joy to millions of people. Sure he went nuts about his physical appearance in the process, but I always wonder why this drives people to some irrational hatred for him?

I meant that more generally actually because I'm sick of the apperance oriented society that we became

But dont forget that MJ has done all those surgeries because somehow obviously he was made to feel that he was not beautiful enough. Noone would look in the mirror and think they're ugly just on their own. Beauty is a taught concept and most of the time, especially in western world beauty that is taught is one-dimensional...

As for your question, this does not apply to just MJ, I see no wrong in lying if it's gonna affect the other person positively and make no change what so ever in your life lol

Sorry, but I think that's bulls**t. I mean If someone had to come up to me and tell me I looked like crap I would take as a hateful comment and I would think they were being rude. No matter how you try to spin it there is nothing nice about telling someone they look like crap. I think it's fine if you think MJ looks terrible 'cause everyone is entitled to their opinions but if you are going to go on one of his FAN sites and call him names like that then don't expect to get a positive reaction, that's all.

Indeed! What'sGoingOn and many others fit right in that category also. Bitter ex-fans who hate what Michael has become but for some reason can't stop talking about him and can't let go. For the life of me, I can't understand why they waste their time repeating the same things about MJ over and over again. It's not like he gives a damn what they think and he's not even gonna read this stuff anyway. I mean I'd much prefer to talk about artists I actually like then ragging on people I don't like all the time or no longer care for anymore. I wish some of these bitter ex-Michael Jackson fans would just move on already.

But some of his fans have admitted that they come to sites like this to say what they wouldn't say on a fan-site and get a more objective prosepective of things. So what happens when they are over at a site like MJJF where everyone tends to have the same thoughts, do fans agree with virtually everything which is being said to fit in with the rest of the hardcore fans but then come to non-fansites to express how they really feel?

But if I go to a fansite I wouldn't say things just to fit in, I would rather just browse and say nothing. No, I wouldn't go to a MJ fan-site and call michael a Pedo or a child-molesting freak. But I wouldn't pretend everything is great with Michael and then go to another non-fan forum to get a more objective prospective. I mean what kind of objective prospective would you expect from a non-fansite?

I guess more than idol worship which most of the time goes on on sites dedicated SOLELY to one artist. However, there is a lot of bickering and complaining on these sites as well.

That's not the point I was trying to get at. Alphastreet admitted that inspite of his love for Michael he comes to this site for a more objective prosepctive on Michael and say things here what he wouldn't say on a fansite. These are alphastreet words not mine.

Of course, because he or she could get banned for not writing "positive" things. I like to think that a number of the Michael Jackson sites are "1984" (the book) oriented. Not just Michael Jackson sites but sites dedicated to one artist. I believe a couple of orgers have written how they were banned from Madonna and Janet Jackson forums because of some of the things they wrote.

But I still think that writing "he looks monstrous" or "he looks like shit" is rude and inappropriate. Who are we to judge someone on their appearance? "Everyone is beautiful in God's eyes" -- I believe that is what a number of Christians believe.

Well, what do you expect. As an artist your looks are part of your image even Michael knew that, that's why he changed his face. And probably if he hadn't of changed his face so much we wouldn't comment on his face so much in the first place.

To be honest I came here first to discuss Prince. But then I saw there was a large MJ following on the Music: Non-Prince forum. So I started joining alot of MJ discussion. I don't post in the Prince: Music and More forum much anymore. I just read it. Prince kinda bores me lately. He's not doing anything exciting at the moment. Unlike MJ. Showing up in silver pants and all.

MJ did not like his black features so he chose caucasian ones. he tried looking better so everyone would say he looks great but as things went wrong wer on our right to say he looks like shit. he wanted people to say "oohh ahhh he looks so good blah blah blah..." so he exposed himself to that. BOB dylan would never get comments as "wow he looks so bad..." neither "wow bob looks so sexy".

also some of the hate is in all the child molesting shit. somethings going on when ur accussed TWICE.

james brown or prince work more and gave us a lot of entertaiment so i dont get why MJ calls himself the king of pop and the best entertainer blah blah blah when he made very few records (solo) and very few tours.

maybe the hate (id wouldnt say HATE) comes from all of that above.

MJ was great but he fucked himself up so bad. wish he came back with something great soon but i dont have too much faith on him.

Am I new enough?

Anyways, I´ve registered because I like Prince and wanted to get some info about him.
Then I found out that there were many threads on Mike whom I have always loved. It was during the trial. there were many interesting threads and I was impressed at how much ppl here were watching the trial. Also I´ve noticed that some ppl over here are MJ fans too and know a lot about him, so I could learn something about Mike as well.

And than it is more fun (sometimes also very tiring though) to have discussion about him over here just because not everyone is a fan.

I do post here and there on the Prince threads as well, but probably not as much because there is not that much for me to argue about. lol

Is this a pic of Janis Joplin?

I just heard "Oh Lord Won't You Buy Me," on the radio yesterday. I've also heard her version of "Summertime." Wow... What an amazing voice.. so very, very unique with this natural "grittiness" but with power and range.

Janis' voice reminds me of Susan Tedeschi's(sp???), but Janis is more naturally powerful.. and has this effortlessness about it. Susan's seems a bit forced sometimes.

Oh it's so sad and too bad Janis died so young. She was just great.
