And I'm not kidding either.I like music where there is at least one element that destroys the continuous flow of the rhythmic arrangement. Better yet - non-static rhythmic structure at all. Free Jazz, Ambient, Industrial, Glitch and so on.

If it's for funk, then we're moving at the MPLS funk sound at around 90-120bpm. Mind you, here's an interesting piece of trivia: "Holy River" is actually one of Prince's fastest songs.

In other words Rubato,

No, the individual elements do not follow the same measurements, or aren't even placed in the same "space" as would be the case with orchestral music. There is no metric interaction in the same sense, and it's not at all about slowing down or accelerating the tempo. Whilst some elements could be rhythmic and adhere to a standard metric of some sort, they're constantly out of sync with each other in drone type of music. A more appropriate definition would be "polyrhythmic", but since I don't consider, say, a filter sweep or a sample of someone walking on the beach proper rhythmic elements, even that definition doesn't really manage to define the phenomenon.

Rubato does mean slowing down and speeding up...
but it also means having no tempo
which is what you were describing

Well debates on such terminology is useless since it really is all about music, but "rubato" does not refer to what I've attempted to describe. And its official description does not apply to by any means to different instruments working at different tempos if they have something temporally structured in even sense to play.

Of course, it's not the most important matter in the world. Let's just call it"rubbababato" or something and be fine with it. wink Music that doesn't adhere to the standards established for the description of the structures of classical music should be allowed to abuse those terms for their own means on the other hand, so in that sense you're obviously right.

Here I am.

Fast music is good for the ass and slow music is good for the dick. Midtempo music is good for nothing.

I like midtempo to fast songs best cause they get my adrenaline going. When I'm in a chill mood or emotional, I love to listen to ballads. I prefer ballads of whitney, mariah, celine and beyonce more than the uptempo numbers.
