I'm not knockin' Janet but its very simple, if there's a portrait of a real human being who have her share of conflicts and complexities, its [BETTER] to leave that shit to the millions of out-of-work black actresses who actualy make a LIVING out of their shit and could tackle this role and sink their teeth into it, instead of giving it to Janet becoz she's a "big name in the music biz".

Well, allot of folks probably thought that Diana Ross couldn't pull off portraying Billie Holiday in LADY SINGS THE BLUES but she'd done a hell of a job. If and that's a very big IF, but IF Janet does get the role (which i truly hope that she does, now just to piss folks off) it's just one role. One role that countless of out of work actresses won't have. Janet ain't stopping them from supporting themselves. Either Janet is given too much credit of things or not enough. She's never in between!
Halle Berry wasn't struggling when she portrayed Dorothy Dandridge, but i refuse to believe she'd gotten the role because at her audition for it she was better than the other out of work actresses who tried as well. Nope! It was her big name and popularity that had gotten the role. Same with Beyonce in DREAM GIRLS. But, I understand that Janet is different. She shouldn't be given the same leadway as others for whatever reason. She isn't liked by allot of folks and isn't taken seriously. Allot has to do with her being a Jackson and the little sister of MJ. So, why the hell should she be given anything even is she tries and busts her ass to get what she wants, why give her a chance at all simply because she is who she is.
Well, Eartha Kitt was too happy that Janet is interested. Kitt said herself that Janet should let the studio(s) know that she's interesting in portraying her and then go from there. Loved to see some orgers tell Ms. Kitt she was wrong for that!
