SIGUR ROS New Releases

From sigurros@sandbag.uk.com

Autumn is a very busy period in Sigur Rós world with two releases emerging on November 5 (Nov. 6 and 20 in North America) - the first of which is 'Heima' the band's debut venture into film, accompanied by a new 2 CD set titled 'Hvarf-Heim', and both of these are preceded (in the UK) by a limited 7' vinyl release featuring a track from each of the 'Hvarf-Heim' CDs.

In 2006 having toured the world over in support of their 'Takk' album, Sigur Rós returned home to play a series of free, unannounced concerts in Iceland. 'Heima' is a unique record of that tour filmed in over 15 locations across the island, taking in the biggest and smallest shows of their career.

Following the recent World Premiere in Reykjavik, Sigur Rós are currently on a 'whistle-stop world tour' of film festival screenings, occasionally accompanied by an intimate live acoustic performance from the band - check the list of confirmed screenings.

'Heima' received it's UK Premiere on October 24 at Cecil Sharp House, North London as part of the BBC's Electric Proms. The band played a 45 minute acoustic set with Amiina which can be seen in its entirety here. This event is followed on November 5 by a further special screening and shorter acoustic performance at the BFI Southbank and regional screenings.

Following a successful screening at the New Yorker Festival on Sept 6, the film will receive its west coast premiere in Los Angeles with a series of screenings from Nov 1st through Nov 3rd. Click here for details on upcoming screenings in North America.

'Heima' is released as a two disc DVD set, with disc one featuring the 97 minute tour documentary / film, plus a bonus 'Producer's Commentary' by band manager John Best, whilst disc two includes almost two hours of full length live performances (with different edits to those used in the film) and further extras.

There will be a special edition of 'Heima' available including a 116-page photo book in deluxe packaging. For more detailed information including production notes and a tracklisting for disc two, visit the official film homepage at www.heimafilm.com.

HVARF-HEIM
'Hvarf-Heim', the companion record, has two titles because it is in effect two separate, but complementary, entities, with two front covers (see below) and a limited run of two discs. Open it one way and it's 'Hvarf' ('disappeared' or 'haven'), a five track electric studio record comprising mainly unreleased rarities from Sigur Rós's back-pages, none of which is on 'Heima'. Open it the other way and it's 'Heim' ('home'), a six track live acoustic record, comprising delicate new unplugged versions of some of Sigur Rós's best moments, which have never been performed before.

To hear excerpts from 'Hvarf-Heim' visit the band's official myspace page.

This is such exciting news but they aren't going to be anywhere near me. cry
The photos accompaning the email are just beautiful!
