http://www.youtube.com/wa...HBeJDVjRo0 love that song! Ditto! As a kid growing up, this was one of my childhood favorites. I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin.

I love both 'Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel' and 'More Than A Woman'. I also checked out 'Whodunit' on Youtube and loved it too. These are songs from their 'disco years', but I'm also interested in hearing their pre-disco soul material, since that's what the group was really about, right? The more I listen to this track the more I love it Why hasn't anybody hipped me to this killer track before? I grew up on Tavares as well, via mom's 45's. Just started listening to them more regularly in recent years.
Fave tracks (in order): Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel Check It Out Whodunit (it cracks me up, just a fun song with lots of detective and cop ref.) More Than A Woman Never Had a Love Like This Before She's Gone It Only Takes A Minute "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!

If you wannna hear Tavares in their pre-disco years,I suggest you check out the first two albums 'Check It Out' (1973) and 'Hardcore Poetry' (1974),which are both available as a 2-for-1 set (both albums on one CD).These albums feature soulful gems like "That's The Sound That Lonely Makes","Check It Out","Remember What I Told You To Forget" and "Too Late". Not surprisingly,I think their best album is 1976's 'Sky High',which found them riding the disco wave for the first time Interestingly, after a few years of big disco hits, the guys decided to return to their R&B roots. They ditched producer Freddie Perren and recruited Bobby Martin to produce their 1978 album 'Madam Butterfly'.It's a soulful affair, containing mostly ballads and midtempo tracks. No disco here.Highlights include the first single "Never Had A Love Like This Before","One Telephone Call Away","I'm Back For More" and the dreamy title track.

Here are the rest of the name checks: Where were you on the night of the 12th? I was by myself She went dancing in the dark, somebody stole her heart Ellery Queen and if you're so keen Won't you help me find my sweet thing?
