The clips are dissapointing, as is the single. And I don't like the new hairdo either.

lol

I'm not sure if the clips will make people want to buy the album either. The only stand-out so far is "That's The Thing About Love".

The singing is a little better. The tracks are underwhelming. She doesn't sound like she's growing musically. The ideas seem rehashed instead of fresh and innovative. I guess she's taking the "safe" route.

I cant tell anything from previews to be honest, i think they should do away with that method soon.

Alicia seems to feel really good about this album so i'll have to see why. the song that she said prince asked her to play again was called go head, im trying to figure out what could have interested him.

That's the same thing I'm thinking 'cause I don't hear it.

Lesson Learned sounds interesting but that may be love for John Mayer coming through. I still like The Thing About Love but now I wonder if that's built on another song too.

Well Linda Perry helped write and produce That's The Thing About Love so...i don't know.

I'm a little upset because at the beginning of this video they are playing I Need You.

On the preview clips the drums are totally mixed down and that ruins the song.

I think it'll be an alright record, but it isn't really a step forward to me. There are some good tracks here, but Alicia has thrown us a curveball this time. I guess I'll be spinning my copies of Unplugged, Diary of AK, and Songs In A Minor more than this.

I think it's a step foward(or maybe backwards) vocally, and the music has a slight edge. That's not something I've heard from her before. What do you mean she's thrown us a curveball?

I can't say this is what I expected, although these previews sound a lot better than the ones previously posted.

I mean, sure she has really stepped up her vocal abilities and she is trying new things with this album, but after listening to the samples, I'm not too impressed with some of the material here as I was with her previous stuff. I think As I Am will be a solid record, but something is ultimately missing here.

One thing that I do love about this new joint is that there are no cover songs here!

Her new vocal style sounds a bit heavy on the ears and less toneful, which is more of a concern if you want to sell your records and get your music played on the radio.

So far it sounds like her style is missing. When she debuted she had a style about her music that was unique, whether she sampled or not. I don't really hear it here.

"Go ahead" sounds like Alicia discovered the Beatles, maybe that interests P.

The samples sound like any other average R&B album these days.Lots of shouting, thick beats, Hiphop and all that. But what i'm missing is actual *songs*.That was one quality about her first album. She seems to have fallen for the R&B/Hiphop mainstream route, just like Joss Stone has with her last album.Guess it's all about the money in the end...

Seems like the weakest song is going to be "No One", I like the others, in varying degrees actually, but I'll have to hear it all to see if they have any lasting quality

Well, they were only able to squeeze really two hit singles from the first record. I think she's been trying to find a way where she can be a bit musical and catchy at the same time.
