Sometimes,I like when Madonna is just being silly and not taking herself too seriously (remember those whacky "I Love New York" lyrics? Loved it).

At this point,I would be kinda sad if "Candy Shop" doesn't make the album.It has a good beat...it sounds like something Missy Elliot would do.A really,cool,crazy dance track!

The songs themselves are good enough - maybe not single material, but decent album filler. The thing that grates on me - as does about all the Pharrel stuff - is her vocals....they're awful. There's absolutely no reverb on there which IMO is a must for dance music - and her singing on the chorus for both is practically off key. She's trying to hit notes like she's 25 again - and it aint happening.

I personally think she needs to go for singing lessons again as i've not liked a recorded vocal of hers since the Music album. Coincidently wasn't that when Mirwais stripped all her vocals back?

I really hope this trash and The Beat Goes On do not make the album. The Beat Goes On is merely mediocre, but this is completely embarrassing. Don't understand why fans seem to like this...is it just because it's Madonna? She has done so much better, she is capable of so much more. If this was a Cassie track, would you still like it?

Its a good point. What did you think of Hey You? I personally felt it was poor - despite having a rather good melody. I couldnt work out whether it was just the lyrics or her singing - but it just doesnt have all the ingredients - same goes for the other tracks. Lyrically i can't ever recall her being in such a hole as this - totally banal - silly fluff lyrics that seem to prioritise rhyme over meaning. That said - Dont Stop on BS was exactly the same kind of silly meaning.

It kind of shows how personal her lyrics are. When nothing happens in her life she's nothing to say. As her life has become more boring, so too have her lyrics. I think i've always been attracted by the constant sadness and yearning that seemed to creep through all the happy dance songs she perfected. As she's found happiness in her life this has led to her becoming less interesting and thoughtful in her work. She's kind of just going through the motions now.

I don't think she was ever better lyrically than on Like A Prayer-Erotica-Bedtime Stories. Songs like Bad Girl, Deeper & Deeper (one of the best songs about coming out), In This Life, Rain, Oh Father, Keep It Together, Secret, the list is long. I love them all. She used to be able to write about experiences that were not her own.

She doesn't seem to reveal much about herself in her lyrics anymore. What is there is just a weak rehash of what we've heard before (Mother & Father, American Life, etc. just recycling themes from tracks like Oh Father and Drowned World/Substitute For Love). Another reason may be that the songwriters and producers she works with now simply don't bring out the best in her (since they are not nearly as talented as the people she's worked with in the past). I know we usually discuss Madonna bringing out the best in producers, but I think it goes both ways.

I thought it was a given that they were undoubtedly bad and just something to occupy the fans until the official single release. I never believed that they would make it to the album and if so, then I'd be highly disappointed.

You guys are expecting the best thing ever and come on..Maddy never really had a CLASSIC album that was flawless all the way through. I was one of the fans who was hugely let down after American Life, but that didnt stop me from running for Confessions.

I'm just tired of seeing people compare her new stuff to old stuff. I didnt even think Bedtime Stories was all that great. I mostly just like the singles....plus Survival..other than that it was a snoozefest. At least these tracks arent "I Know It" or "Jimmy Jimmy"

Well we can't really really judge the leaks until we have heard them on lp. Remember Guitar? Damn I did not like that song when he previewd it. On the album though it was fire.

It seems a silly prejudice, but i think she makes better music when she records in America - i find the music she's recorded in the UK the worst produced music of her career. Much better chord progression and a better chorus.
