Station apologize to Janet , Tyler and Fans

Station responds to fans' complaints about Good Day interview

Sacramento television station KMAX is sending the following e-mail response to fans who have sent the station complaints regarding certain questions one of their anchors asked Janet during her recent interview on Good Day Sacramento:

Thank you for contacting CW31. We have reviewed the many comments we have received regarding our interview with Tyler Perry and Janet Jackson that aired on October 11. As a result of the numerous comments received, we have carefully reviewed the segment and have reassessed the approach taken by Mr. Allen.

While we certainly did not intend to offend anyone during this interview, we do sincerely apologize to anyone who may have been offended, including Ms. Jackson and Mr. Perry.

We take seriously the feedback we receive from our viewers and thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.

Sincerely,
KMAX/CW31

also Tyler spoke about the incident on his website

Tyler Perry defends Janet in latest internet message

In his latest internet message to his fans, Tyler Perry writes about defending Janet during their recent live television interview on Good Day Sacramento:

And speaking of venom, what they did to Janet was unacceptable. Janet, who was under no obligation at all to promote this movie, sat with me while I was doing a round of TV interviews. Half way through the three hours of sitting in the same spot she was attacked by a reporter on a Sacramento morning show who only wanted to talk about the Super Bowl incident.

Now, I made it perfectly clear before we went live on the air that I wasn't talking about the Super Bowl or Janet's family. We had less than 5 minuets so I wanted to keep it positive and focus on the movie. But he didn't want to keep it positive. I had to maintain my composure because we were live on the air. I didn't let her speak. I kept jumping in because it was just so unfair to her. I have not seen Justin Timberlake attacked like that. I wasn't going to let them do that to her. Believe me when I tell you--Janet worked so hard on this film. She deserved more respect from this man than that! We both did.

There's a war in Iraq, a recession, poverty....and people get their panties in a ruffle about an interview with Janet.

Sometimes I find this whole celebrity thing really pointless and stupid.

So we should just do nothing but watch the reports on the war. All TV shows should be cancelled. No movies can come out. Radio stations need to change their programming and JUST talk about the war. Sounds good to me. eek

I get what you're saying; and I think there are some people who do stand up for the crap going on in the world. Kat is just sayin' the same organizing principle who can write in about how Janets interview went can do the same for the social problems in the US. The org can still exist too

in defense of B-n it the org was created in 1998, i discovered in 99 and it was blue and black.

at that time we had a Clinton in office and was being impeached.

Having always liked KatSrizzle so very much, yet not understanding where this is coming from, shall now quietly wait for the poo poo to hit the fan on this thread considering there is a p&r forum on this board where folks from many countries have been discussing the Iraqi war since its' onset March 20, 2003...

And I really don't know where it came from....it just did.

It's like people signing a petition to have Beyonce and Jay-Z change their Deja Vu video. I mean, seriously, I got bills to pay, life to live, and I'm worried about a gazillionare's video? I mean, seriously. I should be worried about my video or something. I guess once in a while I realize how "duped" we are.
It's the rebel in me, I guess. Sometimes I "think out loud".

And then everyone "loves" me for it; like the rain of love I got today from you all.

And Janet...I want her to speak above a whisper. I mean she's 40 something and a grown ass woman. Just sayin... "thinking aloud again" sorry.

So....how long do you think until the gay rumors come out about Tyler Perry?

Im like this, let people say what they say and hang themselves, sorry but im quoting Eric Dyson again, but its true. I mean their have so many random "who gives a shit" issues, two weeks ago there was an email campaign to get Vanessa Hudgens kicked off Disney because of her myspace photos, really, is this where energy needs to be focused? Its like the apple iPhone rebate bullshit, people were mad about the price drop, boo-hoo i should feel sorry for someone who slept on the street for a phone thats useless anyway, sorry but im more concerned with someone that sleeps on the street every night. So im not saying that we all have to eat sleep and drink the war, but you know what, maybe things would be different if we had to, thats the point. And a further note about our materialistic selfishness, back in 1941 before world war 2 started there were 3 million cars made that year, during the 4 YEARS of WW2 , only 300 new ones were made, do you think we could make that sacrifice with anything?

Who gives a damn, chief? And what difference does it make? First you come in here on some "who gives a shit about celebrities" vibe and the next you're questioning Tyler Perry's sexuality? What's up with that? You've asked that question twice so what's really going on?

Go to youtube and look at the Oprah show. He discusses the WOMAN in his life.

Besides, does it really matter? That's his life.

soooo, are you a journalist? I'm just saying. wink I wouldn't say poor, just boring - that was what the interview was.

Reporters as a general rule ask questions that generate controversy. Like it or not, that's part of their job.

I'm a journalist (not broadcast, print) and that is poor journalism. Good reporters are not supposed to generate controversy, that is not, nor has it ever been their job. A journalist's job is to report all sides of the story when it comes to news, breaking news or otherwise.

The biggest problem with this person's work is that the Superbowl Incident is no longer news. It hasn't been since three years ago, unless of course there was some new development, which there hasn't been. So, in essence, this was just a cheap shot, cause obviously this guy wasn't interested in the movie. And if Tyler Perry had reporters NOT to ask about the incident before the interview--this guy was doubly wrong.

I remember Oprah talking about how she was prepped to not to ask a celeb a certain hot button question, and she went ahead and did it. She said that she had one chance to talk to a certain person and that was it

Dude, I am sooooo over the superbown incident, but to me, it's just not that serious....at all (the hooplah over the interview).

Poor journalism, rich journalism, whatever. The journalists convey their opinions anyway. As someone with heavy radio background, I can tell you that a lot of the top jocks ask craaaazy questions.

Being objective has its place, and being stupid is also there as well.

Yeah, dude was a cheese, but the uproar about it was lame

Radio jocks aren't journalist.

The essence of journalism has been lost in this celebrity hungry society but journalist are suppose to be newsworth and factual.

Agreed that radio jocks aren't journalists and neither is Oprah, she's a talk show host, now her job is definitely to generate controversy, or at least get people talking.
