NYC peeps..need help solving a mystery / 80's R&B related!

I thought I could let this go but obsession has come over me and I need to figure out who this is.

On Wednesday's 'The View' Sherri Shepherd told a story about going to a concert Tuesday night (Oct 23rd) with some girlfriends. She said it was to see a 'very popular male R&B artist from 20 years ago'...she then said he was a 'sexual icon and fantasy for many women and men during his peak'...

She then talked about being completly shocked as he came out on stage and was like 'OOOOOH CHIIIILE!!' and 'OOOH GIRRRL'...she did not expect him to be a huge queen. She said her sexual fantasies died but that after the initial shock he put on a fantastic show and she danced her but off....

I've tried googling to see who performed in NYC Tuesday night...and who could it be??? Late '80's R&B male aritsts that come to mind are Keith Sweat, Al B Sure, Johnny Gill, Bobby Brown, Johnny Kemp...who could it be??

Silly I know but I'm bored and her story was really funny!

I didnt know it was mentioned in another thread. Freddie Jackson would make sense...she described him as a sex icon..I guess he would be like the sensitive type...she also said he looked like he was on crack and according to the post..Alexander O Neal looked that way...hmmmmm

It was so funny..she wasnt bashing the guy..she was just shocked...almost as if she saw her high school crush 20 years later and he turns out to be very flamboyant!! lol

She also said she danced her butt off...Freddie doesnt have many uptempo hits...at least the well known ones....on the other hand Alex O Neal had some uptempo hits.hmmmm

That's my point... It's not Freddie.. I'll bet on that, it's so funny because a friend of mine said some greasy shit about Alexander O'Neal yesterday and i never thought of Alexander being gay

I was reaching for Freddie since she mentioned crack. Who doesn't know Alexander has some problems? That doesn't make him less of a R&B icon. No need to bash him on national TV. I will be there when the bones start popping out of her mouth.

I considered that maybe it wasn't on Tuesday. Maybe she said it to throw people off or she just mixed up the date but I didn't find anything even around the 23rd.

I'm so not surprised. There was always something about him but again I was thrown off by the 'sexual icon' reference. Maybe her idea of sexual icon is different from mine. smile
