What songs are on your "I Don't Care If I Ever Hear Again" list?

Reading some of the other posts, gave me the idea for this tread. "I Don't Care If I Ever Hear Again" doesn't mean that you don't like the song (necessarilly). It could be a song you love (or loved), but was either overplayed or some event happened in your life that made you so sick of the song that you added it to THE LIST. Here are some songs that are on my "I Don't Care If I Ever Hear Again" list.

1. Atomic Dog - George Clinton:
I used to LOVE this song, but over the past 20 years, oldies stations have killed my "love" for the song. Also, I worked in radio for a while and had to play this song for 8 hours straight (when the station was changing formats).

2. The Secret Garden - Quincy Jones
This is another song that has turned sour for me. I once LOVED this song. I even bought the remixes featuring Kirk Whalum, but it has been worn out by oldies stations and quiet storms for me.

3. Slow Jam - Midnight Star
See 1 and 2

4. THE PURPLE RAIN SOUNDTRACK!!!!
YES, I said it! I am SO TIRED OF THESE SONGS. I'm not saying it's a bad soundtrack or anything, but I am so over everything from "Let's Go Crazy to "PR". It was so nice to go to the ONA shows and not hear a PR concert! All other P shows were filled with damn near the whole album. mad

5. Shoop - Salt-N-Pepa
This song was so overplayed that I began to despise it. UGH!!!

What are some of yours?

When Doves Cry-Prince
The most overrated Prince song ever, when it comes on I STOP dancing!

Bad-Michael Jackson

Mike's worst song. The cheesy lyrics and wack-ass video don't help

Three Times A Lady-The Commodores

I never understood the appeal of this snoozer. Love the Commodres, hate this song

Nobody's Supposed to Be Here-Deborah Cox

Liked it the first 150 times I heard it on the radio. After the 300th time I was through

Don't Stop Til You Get Enough-Michael Jackson

A great song, but you can only hear it so many times

Survivor-Destiny's Child

I could a fuck about their dramas. They made more money than my entire family combined--get over it!!!

All About the Benjamins- Puff Daddy and Mase
This song singlehandedly killed Hip-hop for me

Anything from Harlem World-Mase

A rapper with a speech impediment. I'm surprised the world didn't come to a fucking end!

Jenny from the Block- Jennifer Lopez

How are you gonna talk about being from around the way and then have Ben Affleck in your video. Get outta my face!
[Edited 10/24/07 13:12pm]

Bump and Grind & Seems Like Your Ready-R.Kelly

Used to be two of my favorite jams of 94/95, now they just seem...wrong.

I was in high school when this came out and my mom even bought the CD. She played it over and over...and over. I thought I was going to die. I couldn't escape it.

nod it's so annoying! They pick two or three of the biggest hits by a certain artist, and play those songs until you absolutely can't stand to hear it anymore! Seriously,I never wanna hear "Always and Forever" again....and I used to LOVE that song! I wish they would play some of the lesser hits by those artists...

How about playing "You Sure Love To Ball" by Marvin Gaye?

How about playing "Look Around" by Freddie Jackson?

How about playing "Make Me A Believer" by Luther Vandross?

you know...the songs that everyone aren't tired of!

I'll Make Love To You - Boyz II Men
I Will Always Love You - Whitney Houston

I loved these songs when they came out, but they got so overplayed that I grew sick of them.

One Way or Another - Blondie
Just What I Needed - The Cars
And most Motown Music.

I know it sounds sacrilegious to diss the greatest soul music of the 1960's. but it's because, like the two other songs I listed, it was overplayed and rammed into commercials to the point where I got really sick of hearing it all. The last thing I need to hear is some song that people listed to at key happy moments of their lives (close high school and college freindships, first love, first sexual experience, wedding day) being used to push kitchen cleaning products, discount retailers and adult diapers.

It was KRBV (100.3) (better known as V-100 at the time). I had to play a steady rotation of "Atomic Dog", "No Scrubs," and "We Like To Party" for hours on end. It killed my interest in any of these songs.

Luckily, one of my local stations has changed to a "new r&b" format. They play VERY LITTLE Luther. They tend to focus on new music and VERY LITTLE Luther.

Man, I could never get tired of California Love. Especially the remix. That's my jam for life.

However, I would like to add:

I'll Make to You & End of the Road- Boyz II Men

They were just beggin' on this one. No man should ever be so desperate. It didn;t help that they played these bitch songs non stop.

Every time I Close my Eyes- Babyface

If the original version with Mariah Carey wasn't bad enough, he went and made one with Kenny G! He almost lost me there. It's also one of his most popular songs, so you couldn't escape it.

No Scrubs-TLC

Did they really need to make a song about how they attract busted-ass dudes? Many women have this problem...and move on. I wasn't as big of a fan after this played-out pop mess.

Can You Stand the Rain & If it Isn't Love- New Edition

I did this to myself. In my zeal being a new fan I played this songs over and over. Now I can't listen to them anymore. I'll never forgive myself for this.
