Today I say Shaft again for the first time in y-e-a-r-s. It reminded me of the very first LP I ever purchased -- the Shaft soundtrack. He produced so many jams then just dropped out of sight. One of my favorite cuts is Joy. I've heared he's a DJ now somewhere (Memphis, Harlem?) Do any of you old skool people know what's up with Mr. Hayes? Are there any Isaac Hayes fans out there on the org, if so what's your favorite song?

I think his radio show was/is in Atlanta. As far as I know he lives out there, but I don't remember if he still has a radio gig anymore. He recently put out a cookbook (can't remember the name of it, but he's on the cover), and has been working behind the scenes in politics in Atlanta.

You like the album Hot Buttered Soul? I don't know if he's still active musically or not.

He is still doing Music He was behind the scenes on Alicia Keys Debut.matter of fact at the Rock&Roll hall of Fame Show She presented Him.He still does Material."Black Moses" is Something else.the Guy has Strong Strings&Grooves.enjoy His Songwriting with David Porter during the Staxx Years on many Acts.Issac does some mean Covers as well.He is heavy into His Scientology as well.I saw some Concert Footage of Him within the past few Years he still smokes on the Boards.

I'm not really what you call an all' school but I'm one sho nuff ol' school listener. I dig all his stuff but the "Shaft" OST is my fave by far becoz its the 1st LP I eva bought from him.

Isaac is still active and doing well, As Supernova pointed out he is living in Atlanta, but he actually spends most of his time at his house in the Hollywood Hills. I went to visit him there a couple of times, cuz I'm friends with his daughter. She's currently working on an album her brother is producing for her, and Isaac will guest on it.
The man himself released a 2-CD-set back in 1994 with new songs and new versions of old tunes. He's touring in Europe a lot, playing festivals. He looks as sharp as ever.

Funny you should start a thread about Isaac.Just the other day,I was listening to his 'Black Moses' CD.I LOVE his version of the 60s Jerry Butler hit "Never Gonna Give You Up".Isaac Hayes is da man!!
