Teena Marie. Not only is she a better singer but her material is much better, Even her newer stuff. The only Joss Stone song I like is the one she did with the Roots. I think it's called "Fell In Love With A Boy" or something like that.

Annie Lennox and Lisa Stansfield are great singers and unique by themselves.
I think most people are fascinated by the fact that a white female can have that "soulful" sound....however it can be a catch 22 with the masses.

None of the woman with the slight exception of Taylor Dane came off to be overly sexual so they have appeal to a certain group of listeners....and I wouldn't even say all white or black.....There tone is appealing to some folks and are the ones we consistantly catorgorize and dabate over.

Now with that said where the hell is Stephanie Mills these days....that bitch voice is KILLER! For me all the women I listed have a range to their voice that is just their's...when you hear it is identifiable. Someone mentioned that Pink could sing or possibly should do more r&b, I agree with that as well. I just love when any singer can just bring the sound from their toenails and deliver. I find myself clapping at home in my living room or computer when I see someone bring it! LMAO
