The whole song is here:

Um, her voice sounds like crap on this. And yeah this is a complete rip of PR. I'm glad I don't listen to the radio much anymore. I think I would seriously toss my cookies if some DJ started talking about how original this is.
Better yet, they should release this as a single so I can call up and ask to her the Alica Keyes rip off of Purple Rain. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'll play it first and tell you what it is later. -Miles Davis-

This is damn near lawsuit material, but he won't do that, because he has a special place in his heart 4 Alicia.
There is more than 1 musical element ripped off from "Purple Rain" here. It's not even that good. The vocals R AWFUL. I mean terrible. What happened 2 her voice? The rhythm track is pathetic and just wrong 4 the song. "He's a musician's musician..."

God, that song was so... short... and awful.

Is that even the full version I heard though? I mean it added in an intro but it still felt fleeting. I mean I guess it ain't too bad but first listen you're like "ugh". No offense, lol.

The funny thing is that just underneath the player, it says "And if you plan to rip the mp3 of my site, please put a credit link next time. Thanks!" [Edited 10/24/07 16:15pm]

Damn...that does sound quite a bit like if Purple Rain and Diamonds and Pearls had a baby, doesn't it. And there's gonna be a whole slew of kids who are going to have no freakin' clue.
Anyway, I'm listening to it now and I like it. I'm really feeling 'No one', too. This new album of hers may be my first Alicia Keys album.

Is that the polite way if saying ripped, these days? It's like added diced pieces of Purple Rain and Diamonds and Pearls to this recipe. No not diced. What's it called when you cut things in big chunks? Well, that. LOL, well-put. I wonder why all the hate on the board? Prince has done homages to older artists. Ain't nobody here heard "Housequake"?? Ally Keys is the *only* one that did P justice during his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, giving a beautiful speech that was not "just off the dome", treating the occasion with the proper gravitas and praise of one of her musical heroes. Good for her with this song. It's a fun song, and not a P.Diddy straight-rip. Hell, we need MORE 80's Prince music. Some people tell me I've got great legs...

I agree her vocals sound a little off but it is definitely much improvement

We don't need someone ripping off PR. Alicia is becoming famous for this stuff. I liked unbreakable until I heard the record she ripped it off from (LOL). I don't know who is advising her but, she needs to get away from that person. She is going to get slammed for doing this PR rip.

What song is that from? ----- I was listening to the RnB station on my Comcast Cable a few months ago and all of sudden I hear the music to Unbreakable with a different person singing. I then realize that she ripped this music off. I did not write down the artist but I am going to try a look around to find the name of the song.

Oh yeah,I can def. hear the Prince influence. Reminds me of "Purple Rain", but I dunno I'm not really feeling this song. Maybe it will grow on me later but for now it's just blah to me. Boring. "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ
"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always

The original song is actually Eddie Kendricks' "Intimate Friends", the first song to sample it was an artist named Sweet Sadie. The title of the song was "For Old Time's Sake", it was an R&B hit back in 1994.

I think this song is the most original song Alicia has made. If someone says that this is a sample I will pass out of the floor.

http://www.youtube.com/wa...iogfO6SYZA Never heard it before, but the opening is a straight rip from Elton John's "Benny And The Jets". As for the song itself I have to say the lyrics are atrocious. Every line is so OBVIOUS and cliched. As a lyricist she is an AMATEUR. Pure and simple. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”
