This motherfucker is just talking. No rhyme scheme or anything. What the fuck dude. Seriously. What the fuck. It's like a bad screenplay. Is that the real origin of this that he wrote a shitty screenplay and decided to sing it, even the directions and everything. | |

All geniuses are FUCKING MAD! listen to showdown, when a women;s fed up, one more chance(mj), truth hurts(thruth hurts) a women's threat, the world's greatest, step in the name, contagious, heaven i need a hug and dozens more. His best songs are truly brilliant. He lets himself down with the bullshit throwaway tracks; oh yeah and pissing on little girls. cos i'm a flirt How can you not like the bounce of that song? Ignition remix? come on man that's that shit! The problem with R. Kelly is that he is more or less a product of whatever current trends that are hot at the time, which is where he fails compared to other acts who have had similarly long periods of commercial relevance in soul music. Unlike artists like Marvin Gaye and James Brown, R. Kelly is not a table-setter in terms of establishing a musical style that is unique and has never shown such ability. He mostly takes what is hot, recreates it with a catchy hook or beat (sometimes just as well as the originator, if not better) and does it well enough that it's not questioned. If left alone to his own devices, I feel R. Kelly does have a default sound. Songs like "I Believe I Can Fly" and "I Can't Sleep Baby (If I)" for himself and songs like "I Don't Want To" (by Toni Braxton), "You Are Not Alone" (for Michael Jackson) and "You Are My Angel" (the duet with Celine Dion)" all have that same consistent arrangement and melody. This, IMO, is the closest to a true R. Kelly sound. But even then, you're talking about IMO some very simple-sounding songs with basic beats and melodies. But everything else is simply a riff of what other people have done. He ripped off Guy and Aaron Hall in particular with his first three albums. He's imitated numerous artists' vocal and musical styles in his songs, from Lenny Williams to The Isley Brothers. He's lifted the rapid-fire vocals inspired by the likes of Timbaland's work. He's basically more of a rapping-style singer now because that's the prevailing style in the genre now. Like it or not, that is R. Kelly's legacy. His music has value only in the context and time when it was done, not much beyond that. Outside of the likes of "I Believe I Can Fly," I honestly don't hear that much from him that has any real staying power; he's not a great singer or songwriter by any stretch and after a few years I never hear his other songs on radio station formats that play his music. Like I said, his greatest ability is being a chameleon/copycat. Ever heard of Led zeppelin? You could apply what you said to many artists. I 'm not a huge kelly fan btw Gotham city is fucking great though! It's not being overanalytical at all. R. Kelly simply has to wait for someone else to create a style or emphasis, then he copies it -- and he's been doing it for years. By my definition, a "musical genius" is someone who can create musical styles without imitating others. The fact it challenges your pleasure center is irrelevant, IMO.
