I hear you & I've always appreciated his willingness to be different. But Prince's makeup seems to be more about covering up lines nowadays than looking different. And it doesn't hold as well to his skin. He'd probably look better without it. I just imagine him looking like Lucille Ball or Bette Davis (or who was that in Sunset Blvd?) in a few years. Prince's makeup is very little richardish nowadays....

His name and looks are just emblems of what an unremarkable person he is in general, and that's reflected in his work. Look how he's casting around so shamelessly for an identity. First ripping MJ, now ripping Prince (even hiring all P's old musicians for godsake). That's because he has nothing of his own to offer, and that's because he is such a generic person in general. When someone is all over the media (and paid millions of dollars) the message being sent is "This person is special. This is an exceptional individual", which is why Justin's unremarkability is an issue. Now if he was a great singer or something then I wouldn't even mention it, but he's not, so you have to say there's hardcore b.s. at work when a non-entity like this is ruling the roost. Now to be fair, there are other non-entities like Janet who have been celebrated too, but at least their averageness was hidden behind their distrinctive looks. I love a lot of justin's songs, but only because they remind me of michael and prince so much, and I'm a fan of timbaland's productions. Even nelly furtado's voice sucks, but her timbaland produced music is amazing. I don't know how people can't see that justin is a puppet, and they go on and on saying they love him. | |
