Yes i have this anthology set as well which contains gimme my mule from the movin on album. You could just look at the cover and tell the commodores were having a ball then. They were on top of the world baby. Then lionel started doing duets with diana and kenny rogers and started getting all artsy fartsy and lost his funk card along the way. Don't laugh at my funk

Give me my mule is my shit. That was lionel puttin the stank on it back then. I wish they would release that album on cd. I liked all of their albums with lionel but i would have to say natural high was probably my least favorite. Say yeah, x rated movie, and i like what you do keeps my interest in natural high. Three times a lady is classic but after hearing it so many times it kind of reminds you of the stuff lionel would come to do as a solo artist. This Is Your Life ( wrote a thread about this one on here before) and Zoom Of course I dig all of the songs that everybody else on here has already listed but I ADORE these two songs. ESPECIALLY "This Is Your Life". It has that beautiful "I Want To Be Free " from the Ohio Players vibe all over it. We should all know Zoom is proven..but, I gotta' sho' som luv fo' "This Is Your Life". This is 6min of tightness. Milan is giving a lil' woo wizardry on the boards, and those horns blow ya down. This cut was designed for a live performance, I dig the lil' climatic build ups in this song to the big climax@the end. Do what you wanna do So much in life to see you through Be what you wanna be Be strong and tell the world you're free I see the children of the world Searching to find themselves and who they are So many roads for them to choose, yeah So many ways for them to win or lose Oh, this is your life Oh...oh...yeah, yeah Oh, whoa, whoa, yeah This is your life Yeah, yeah I'll see you there Dyin' in your wisdom Where do you go, tell me Where do you go Just see the light Shine through your window Why can't you see, tell me now Why can't you see I'm longin' to see If your search will find Ah, peace of mind Well...peace of mind If this is your life (Yeah, yeah) This is your life, yeah, yeah This is your life, yeah, yeah This is your life, yeah, yeah This is your life, yeah, yeah

I'm pissed that they haven't done a reunion tour by now.The 90s would have a perfect time to do it,with the Old School funk revival going on back then.Shame on Lionel for not cooperating!

The Commodores were a very good band and it's only with The Commodores will I listen to Lionel Richie in any context. A step behind the likes of The Isley Brothers, EWF and P-Funk in the innovative department, IMO, but were very successful. Very versatile, they could go from funk to pop to country-flavored soul to even gospel. The Commodores were also a good live acts (HBO played one of their concert performances incessantly in the late 1970s). [Edited 10/31/07 17:59pm] THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. HOLD ON TO YOUR DRAWERS!

While we're discussing the Commodores, let's not forget that Milan Williams recently passed away.
A few years ago, Motown released a "Lionel Richie: Definitive Collection" cd (with a bonus 3 song cd as well) that had an unreleased, 8 min.+ extended version of Zoom. Good music, man... By the way, Hot On The Tracks is their best and Commodores comes in a close 2nd. Good discussion, because most of these comments are pretty on point. Good to see that, in the mix of all of the other '70's bands (EWF, PFunk, etc...), that the Commodores haven't gotten lost in the shuffle.

Motown really needs to release a Commodores Box Set. Im talking 'bout a hardcore 4-5 cd funk anthology and not just the pop hits.

Yeah the nineties have zipped by without any sort of reunion tour by the band.
It has been talked about by both parties during the nineties but you got to feel that some of lionel richie's misfortunes in his personal life probably put a little distance from the reunion ever taking place. I know i saw the remaining members of the commodores myspace page earlier this year and the band stated while they acknowledge and appreciate all the bands past accomplishments with past members they are concentrating on the here and now. A reunion at this point doesn't look to good. Don't laugh at my funk

A couple are a bit filler-ish too Overall though, it's a good album, don't get me wrong. It's just not as consistent as 'Hot On The Tracks' or 'Caught In The Act'. Their debut is also great, but has some filler material in there along with the killer tracks. I'd like to know what songs you think are "filler" on that album To me,that album is filler-free.Every song is top notch. The hit singles were "Brick House" and "Easy",but I think several other songs were just as strong ("Zoom","Funky Situation","Funny Feeling"). 'Hot On The Tracks' is my second favorite Commodores album, but I think it loses steam after "Come Inside".The last three songs aren't that great. Filler-ish! Anyways, the album has a couple of killer cuts, namely Zoom, Easy & Brick House. Squeeze The Fruit & Funny Feelings are strong cuts. Heaven Knows & Patch It Up are kinda... boring and so is Won't You Come Dance With Me. It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.
