Al Wilson's "Touch and Go"/Soul Train classic 10/27/2007 Two topics for the prince of one!
I don't see a Soul Train thread this week (maybe I'm not looking hard enough) so here it is. I started watching in the middle. I was watching a movie (the terrible new "Fantastic Four") and though "Soul Train might be on". It is and when it started, Redbone's "Come And Get Your Love", one of my favorite songs ever by the ultra funky and talented Native American band, was playing. Then they had a performer I never heard of named Al Wilson do a song called "Touch And Go". The title sounded familiar, since a lot of different songs have that title, but this was actually the Cher song from her 1971 album (which predates his). Apparently he had a two million selling song "Show and Tell". And Kool and the Gang was also on the show. They did a song I recognized but not as a Kool and the Gang song...and I wasn't paying much attention to what the title was...I'll have to try to see if this is on again on channel 20! And I need a better hits set from them!..Now Kool and the Gang is doing "Jungle Boogie". Nice! Check it out. http://wm09.allmusic.com/...fyxqw5ldde (Cher..her version is kind of slick and almost disco) http://wm09.allmusic.com/...fwxq9aldje (Originally from an album that came out in either 1974 or 1973....Al's is a little more soulful and funky but still light) | |
