For the first time COMMON makes a really dumb statement....? Here it is.....
COMMON URGES T.I. TO PRAY OVER CHARGES Rapper COMMON has voiced his support for his AMERICAN GANGSTER co-star T.I. after he was taken into custody over weapons charges. Common, real name Lonnie Rashid Lynn Jr, who plays T.I's dad in the film, urged the rapper-actor to pray for his future. He says, "Know that God is with (you). Know that He knows what the truth is and the truth is going to allow (you) to get out and be alright." Twenty-seven-year-old T.I., real name Clifford Harris Jr. - remains in custody after allegedly sending his bodyguard to buy three machine guns and two silencers from an undercover police officer who was posing as an arms dealer. His lawyers asked U.S. Magistrate Judge Alan Baverman to release the rapper on a $2.2 million (GBP1.1 million) bond with monitored home confinement while he awaits trial. But the judge said he will reserve his ruling until October 26 (07) when his lawyers are expected to present an approved home monitor. Dont know where everyone will be on this statement, but to me, its dumb. Mainly the whole GOD knows the truth shit is so sickening at this point, take the blame for your own actions, how come you dont say "Pray for the Bodyguard also" while he was at it. Regardless of what the outcome of this charge is, i really doubt that he is 100% innocent, and there lies the problem, i have seen people posting all over that he is innocent and things like that and yet no one is even speaking on how and why were these assault weapons were even involved, that for some reason has taken a back seat. Machine guns and silencers, seems like someone was planning something, and think how cowardly this all is too. Using another person to go get them for you, no one is speaking on that either. It's not so much what Common said that's stupid, it's really what TI did that's beyond stupid. Check me out and add me on:

True but Common's statements, are really what i would expect an ignorant person to say. Instead of speaking on Guns and shit, to talk about the Truth and God and not even mention the actions involved is a very "common" thing, thought he was wiser. He is just saying that only God knows what is in T.I's heart not any man. At this point only GOD can help him out of this mess. I don't think for one minute that Common is excusing his behavior. We don't usually beat people down in the black community after all it is not like people like T.I. are not aware of their behavior.

The real shock is ....how old is Common that he is playing the dad of a 27 year old (even though TI kind of looks like a kid). As for Common said, it almost sounds harmless. It's really a nothing kind of statement.

I don't think it was dumb or ignorant. Who is Common to tell T.I. what he should or shouldn't be doing? Especially when the deed is already done? No one knows the exact details of what was going on but God does. For all we know Common's reference to 'out' could be on bail as oppose to being 'out' because he's 100% innocent. No one knows right now but in the end he's trying to give the guy a little hope and support rather than throw rocks. The bigger issue is not just a gun charge, its more than a gun, these are assault weapons, and also how much of a coward are you to send your bodyguard to go get them and possibly go down like that. Also i doubt highly that he is 100% innocent, i know we like to believe everything is a frame up and that just because of your wealth that celebrities could never do something like this. And look at how he's already trying to buy his way out, trying to get a bail of 2million as opposed to no bail at all. I know people will make this into, dont tear the guy down, GROW UP ALREADY and take responsibility for your actions. You are a grown man, who some say has intelligence, you have a career, and yet this is what you do? Stop excusing the behavior, TI is not a victim, he did it all to himself. I think you might be letting your religious bias get the best of you... Common seems to be deeply religious. that statement seems to be what a religious person would say. Religious people aren't reasonable... they talk to their invisible friends... so is his statement really ignorant?, or just common of a religious person. I am a Rail Road, Track Abandoned

Its not about bias, i feel believe in what you want to believe, but if you think that "finding" God keeps bad things from happening then you really are kind of lost, if thats the case since 80% of the world believes in GOD how come the world is in a shithole? when i saw Common a couple weeks back during one of his songs he started naming people that were misunderstood...Tupac, misunderstood....Malcom X, misunderstood...etc and the he gets to Michael Vic and says misunderstood and my friends and i looked at each other and were like and he got a lot of boos after that name drop. Then me and my friends got silly with it and started yelling out crazy peoples name and saying misunderstood behind it.
Jeffery Dahmer, Misunderstood.. John Wayne Gasey, Misunderstood! George W. Bush, Misunderstood... err, you had to be there.

It's a pretty general statement. He's just speaking out in support of someone with whom he's worked, a junior entertainer. And, he's mentioning God.
Sometimes, I think people would be happier to see two rappers warring than to see one support another who's made bad decisions. It reminds me of Jane Fonda's comments about Lindsey Lohan, a year or so back. A senior entertainer trying to support a younger one.

Yeah sure, it's not that impossible to project the illusion of being nice or mild mannered whilst in possession of a sick mind.

Who knows, maybe Common has the real version on this story not the one that's been "passed like a party joint" through the media.
I have big respect for Comm, but hopefully he's supporting TI because he knows he's not guilty. I mean come on dude, 3 machine guns, silencers and shit...seems to me he had intentions on putting someone to sleep or maybe he was gonna David Koresh's legacy, i don't know.

Well i dont have confidence in police or government at any level, but i do feel they have something on him to have him with no bail for this long, i have a feeling that this whole thing is gonna get pushed off on the Bodyguard and he's gonna end up with doing time, i think we've seen this movie before. As for Common, i mean we can start making "pray for" statements about anyone, i just hate the arrogance of a statement like that. It's not dumb for Common to make that statement. God IS with T.I. no matter what he does. God doesn't spare him from the consequences of his actions. But why would Common NOT offer some type of support to a purported friend, even though that friend was colossally stupid?
I mean, Jesus said we should pray for our enemies. I thought you were referring to Common's views on interracial relationships. [Edited 10/22/07 5:32am] Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016
