Winehouse Free After Norway Pot Bust MTV.com 10/19/07 Amy Winehouse's attempt to get her career back on track after an alleged drug overdose in August hit a snag on Thursday, when she and husband Blake Fielder-Civil were arrested in Norway for marijuana possession. The Associated Press reports that the couple and an unnamed third person were arrested shortly after 6 p.m. at a hotel in Bergen, Norway, after the police received a tip. All three were held overnight and released at around 7 a.m. Friday (October 19) after paying approximately $715 in fines. "They were found with 7 grams [about one-fourth of an ounce] of marijuana," said Prosecutor Lars Morten Lothe. "She's paid the fine, so this thing is over for us now." Winehouse, 24, is just starting a European tour and is slated to perform in Oslo on Saturday, before heading to the Netherlands on Monday for another show. The U.K.'s Times Online reported that the marijuana was not found on the singer or her husband, but in their hotel room. At press time, it was unclear if the arrest would affect Winehouse's scheduled appearance at mtvU's Woodie Awards in New York on November 8. The trip to Norway is one of the first excursions Winehouse has made since a hospitalization in August that was reportedly drug-related. That incident resulted in the cancellation of a string of planned U.S. dates, as well as an appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards. She has yet to reschedule the U.S. dates, and a spokesperson could not be reached for comment at press time to discuss the latest incident or any future touring plans. [Edited 10/21/07 22:00pm]

Isnt weed legal in Norway? I thought America was the only one still calling it a crime. Shes pretty much a done deal at this point, further reason why i dont get into these artists that get all this UNWARRANTED praise right off the bat, 90% of them cant handle it nor deserve it. With as many sessions, shoots, and backstage dressing rooms I've been in, I think you're going to have to stop buying music altogether ...besides, even if artists didn't purchase it themselves, there's always some random roadie, p.a., our studio assistant around who has the bag of weed around for whoever asks...

I´ve always wondered how they do that when they travel from city to city or better yet, from country to country. I mean , most entourages only spend one or two nights in one city or small country, so how do they manage to get in touch with drug dealers ? Or do they smuggle it into the country, which is really dangerous ? I just love how in the U.S. press they just keep everything under wraps and pretty in print when a person is still in their cash cow phase.Like it's going to kill MTV.com to say say out loud what everybody already knows. It's almost like a form of enabling. Over here in the EU everybody and their mama knows she was rushed to the hospital because she fell into a COMA. She fell into a coma after smoking heroin, crack, and popping those horse tranquilizers young folks are so fond of these days. She fell out when she got there, and they pumped the shit outta her stomach and kept her from croaking. When she emerged from the hospital she looked like a scared, rabid animal. All the while with that skanky ass husband telling the paparazzi, his wife is loved and being "well looked after" , yeah right. He's going to look after her well enough to her grave
In other news, when she's appeared in public here she isn't sweating or scratching anymore while she performs, and has appeared to gain 3 pounds, so maybe she's on the mend from the pipe and the needle...one should hope Sounds terrible, but shoot, I'm glad all they found was some weed.

Paul Mc Cartney spend some time in a Japanese prison for possession of weed in the 60s...the only time he couldn´t be together with Linda. Really, how do they do it ? Most people in music and fashion have travelled the globe three times over and already have friends or contacts in place in cities all over the world, sort of like a network, that can handle that ...and even when that's not so, there's always a member of the locally hired portion of the production team, again whether it be a production assistant, studio assistant, backliner/roadie who can take care of it. It's an unspoken thing thats sort of understood, all it takes is a higher-upper to give the go for them to magically show up with little bags of pick-a-candy, no questions asked. Artists, entourage/crew members generally never have to carry ANYTHING on them. It's already waiting for them wherever they land. Also drug use is so widespread in music and fashion, you'd be surprised how often they turn up as "gifts" on trips. Little welcome envelopes placed in your mail slot at the reception. The fed-ex or DHL package you THOUGHT was an important document...My favorite is the fruit, flower, or champagne basket that's placed in your hotel room with the weed (or hash, depending on the country) at the bottom... those, by the way, are usually gifts from your peers and professional colleaugues. Imagine, you can be awash in every drug you could possibly desire without ever having to look someone in the eye or have money exchange hands. There are scores of other ways, but these are some of the common examples. [Edited 10/21/07 23:18pm]
