Jackson Bro Accused of Deadbeat Divorce Tactics

The King of Pop might be spending lavishly, but apparently some members of the royal family are barely making ends meet.

The wife of Jermaine Jackson, Michael's 52-year-old brother, claims that she is broke and not getting any help from her estranged hubby—circumstances are so dire, in fact, that she and her kids are still living with Jackson's mother, according to court documents filed Tuesday as part of their ongoing divorce proceedings.

To which Jackson has more or less declared: Don't look at me.

"I currently do not have any employment" and "I do not have any income from which to pay support," the third-oldest Jackson sibling states in a declaration included with the filing.

Jermaine and Alejandra Jackson tied the knot in March 1995 and split up in November 2004, although they continued to live together at his mother's home until earlier this year. They have two sons, Jaffar, 11, and Jermajesty, 6. The former Jackson 5 crooner has eight kids altogether.

Alejandra also has two teenage children from a previous relationship with Jackson's littlest bro, Randy—Genevieve, 17, and Randy Jr., 14. Also living with them until recently was 15-year-old Donte Williams, who was never legally adopted by the family but had been "financially, emotionally and physically" cared for by the Jacksons since he was two.

Jackson has been involved with girlfriend Halima Rashid for several years.

On a document included in the filing and obtained by extratv.com, Alejandra Jackson indicates that, since August, she has been making $15 per hour working as a personal assistant, she has no health insurance and she had to borrow $500 from her aunt to pay legal fees. She also lists her total assets from her partnership in a Colombian clothing design business as negative $198.

Her income is listed at an average of $81 a month, with no overtime, commissions or bonuses, or investments to boost that figure in any way.

"Occasionally and not consistently Mrs. Jackson will give me a couple hundred dollars for food or other expenses I need," Alejandra stated in court documents, referring to mother-in-law Katherine Jackson, 78. She doesn't get any child support from Jermaine, she says.

A number of overdue bills and expenses are listed in the documents, as well as a wish list that includes health insurance for the kids and tutoring for Jermajesty.

Once she and the kids move out of Katherine Jackson's home, Alejandra states, they will need, among other things, approximately $7,000 for rent (based on the going rate for a five-bedroom home), $2,500 for groceries and supplies, $1,800 for utilities and $1,000 for pet expenses.

Alejandra, who is also seeking sole custody, states in the filing that Jackson is responsible for $22,741 in debts and unpaid loans.

In his declaration opposing her requests, Jackson maintains that he continues to have "a healthy, happy relationship" with the children, and that his wife's motion for full custody, considering that they have successfully shared time with the kids so far, is "nothing more than a litigation tactic."

"I do not object to an appropriate level of child support," Jackson continues. "However, the reality is that [Alejandra] has knowingly misled this court into believing that I have income which I do not. I currently do not have any employment…

"Thus I find myself in a Catch-22 situation where while I need money, I also need to be very cognizant of what employment I do undertake so as not to degrade my market value and ability to obtain legitimate work in the future. Unfortunately (and sadly), this troubling situation is very common in the entertainment industry."

The "ABC" purveyor, who in April was reportedly in talks to team up with sister La Toya and brother Tito to serve as judges on a CBS show about the search for the next big band of brothers, says that he'd be more than happy to take over fulltime care of his minor-age sons so that Alejandra can go to work fulltime.

I thought Halima was his wife, not girlfriend. At least that's what they said on big brother.

I don't feel sorry for anybody except the kids.
a) why doesn't Jermaine have any employment?
b) Alejandra should have seen what time of man/husband/father Jermaine was from the trail he leaves behind
c) why does she keep having kids?
d) why can't she get a better job?
e) why does Katherine continue to let these adults live in her house with all their baggage, drama and kids?
f) if Alejandra is that broke she doesn't need a 5 bedroom home or a pet
g) who is Donte Williams and why did they think they could care for him?

In the 90s, Jermaine, his 2nd wife Margaret and their kids along with Randy's kids lived at Hayvenhurst.

this is pretty common with families...the only difference is that these folks are celebrities...sh*t, my mum and bro ended up and my grandparents house a few times growing...sometimes you need a lil help. and its more and more comment that children are living with their parents indefinitely. why folks are acting all shocked is beyond me?

I don't buy what that article is selling. Someone leaked the filings on purpose to embarrass Jermeaine. In the end divorce is just a contest of "how low can you go". She's making $81 a month??? Come on.

Jermaine was cheating on Hazel with Pia Zadora and Margaret. He got Margaret pregnant the same time Hazel was pregnant with their 3rd child, Jaimy. Hazel had their sons apart from each other. Hazel filed for divorced and Jermaine tried to rape her.
Jermaine with his new family moved in Hayvenhurst in 1988. Jermaine was working on his album "You Said" with Babyface and LA Reid when they took a break from his sessions to work with Michael which pissed Jermaine which prompted him to write Word To The Badd that came out the same day as Black Or White.

Story has it that Michael found out, got in his jeep, drove down to Hayvenhurst looking for a fight and told Jermaine he was "gonna kick his ass".
Jermaine was cheating on Margaret and gave her gnonorrea. He later left her and started messing with Randy's ex, making those 2 estranged.

Now he's left her and is with his current woman.

I am glad Jackie, Tito, and Marlon are not living with their mother.

But like sosgemini said, this (adults living with their parents for one reason or another -- financial, etc.) seems to happen in almost every family.

Jermaine ain't never released anything after "You Said" came out because of the negative publicity he got from "Word to the Badd". He's been blacklisted from anything musically solo-wise since then because of him lambasting Michael. Clive Davis cussed his ass out and took him out of his Arista roster.

His punk ass been trying to claim a comeback since then to get sympathy.

But otherwise, being shocked about him being at home still? Boo, it's because the brotha is FIFTY some years old . I admit I have seen a case or two with old girlfriends from home whose brothers just NEVER seemed to leave the mother's houses. Even though the sons were loved, there was always a bone of contention that they would never sort of take flight from the nest, if ya get my drift. I dunno, some families and moms are just like that, they keep their kids close by far into adulthood... but with some sons just hanging on and hanging around til they're retirement age ...

I heard on the Wendy Williams show (take it for what it is) that Janet cleaned house, so to speak. She is supporting her mother only, and did not agree to support Jermaine and his family. Janet went to the house, ordered Jermaine out, put him up in a condo, and offered to pay his and family's expenses for one year, after that, he has to fend for himself. Jermaine is the main one pressing Janet and Michael to do a family tour to financially help him (and his broke siblings). Neither Janet or Michael are interested in a family tour.

I must give Jermaine some props, although he didn't release many solo albums, he did have some beautiful slow jams (Do What you Do and Dont Take It Personal my favorites).
