And also if i remember correctly, Mariah hasnt released an album during a Holiday season, outside of collections and the xmas album, she tends to be the Spring/Summer release when schedules are pretty vacant. The MIMI dvd still is set for release in November, but it appears to be overseas only so far.
Less of a crazy release schedule? All the bitches scheduled for November/December have now moved to February/March. It's the same crazy only with no chance for holiday sales. Stupid stupid stupid. [Edited 10/21/07 12:36pm] But labels are catching on that PEOPLE DONT BUY MUSIC like they did, maybe ten years ago, you would stock a holiday music release, but MUSIC means nothing at this point, people are buying phones, dvds video games and clothes, MUSIC does not have a place or at least the place it had. Labels can hold out till February because thats when they make the final cut for the year, december isnt the end of the year from them. February is smarter for Mariah because of the attention span of people and just getting proper marketing in place for her. I think you can overkill a holiday too, I think just getting Alicia Keys out there and also the Britney record and the Celine release seems like its going to come out, thats really about it for the labels at this point, and then mix in there other artists and their collections and then the typicl Xmas albums and usually a Michael Buble record to sell to the older crowd and thats about it. Now the only people that would be hurt by this would be Music Retail, but we all know there are NO retailers left, best buy and others do not function to sell music, thats their Profit Margin Loss every year, why would they want more music.
