I buy my used cds at the flea market. $8.00 per cd or 3 cds for $20

And if they are not good you can return them for a refund or exchange for another cd

i think it's a silly argument, because at some point a CD has to be as much of an "object" or an "item" as it is a piece of art. i mean, should we really feel apprehensive about selling CDs at a garage sale or at a flea market? should we really be mailing off a cut of what we get from used CD purchases at yard sales to the respective artists? if so, how much should we send them? how much does an artist get from a record label per CD sale? i'm guessing not a whole lot. screw it - i think it's JUST FINE for artists to only get a cut of NEW album sales, and it should be at the buyer's discretion if we want to get our discs cheep or spend a few extra bucks to support the artists.

Just saw a CD by one of my favorite artists (Jill Cunniff formerly of lucious Jackson) and thought that I would buy it new even though there were used discs because I have never bought her CD before and I want her to get a cut. Like, if you're an artist that I like, and I want you to keep making music even though the majority of the world may not recognize you talents, I'll buy that cd. But alas, now I see much of my effort has been in vain
