(and she said it herself she is NOT the best sing nor dancer.. if madonna can admit this.. this her fans and media needs to as well) VR and janet are basically the same tour. okay.. soo... Janet Jackson is a mediocre singer with choreographed dance moves. How is she more talented than Madonna? EDIT: I am not arguing that Madonna is a phenomenal singer or dancer. Because she is not. [Edited 10/19/07 12:50pm] okay... im saying that if people Label Madonna as having talent... then you definitly should label Janet having talent as well... because they basically are in the same kind of music genre... and janet can clearly dance better... and IMO have better songs... but honestly How many people off the street do you know could perform like janet on the Velvet rope... even though she can't sing and coreographed... I really like to see you do what she did.. SINCE you are claiming she has NO talent.. because if thats NOT talent then EVERYONE off the street could do what she did.....

The difference between Janet Jackson and most average people one meets on the street is that latter do not depend on singing and dancing for their livelihood. And who said that Madonna is more talented than Janet Jackson? Both are mediocre singers. And the fact that you think Janet Jackson has the better songs is your opinion, not mine. Janet is straight up song and dance show. Madonna isn't. Madonna uses costumes, lighting, video, music, and atmosphere to tell a story. More of play like performance artist type thing. both are good at what they do, but to say one type of show is better than the other is just opinion. i'd love for Janet to try to be more like Madonna when it comes to concerts but it isn't going to happen. Madonna, Kylie, Christina, Britney all do different arrangments, choerography, costumes and other things to make each concert experience unique. Janet does a varition of the previous tours costumes and has been the same dancing we've seen her do tour after tour. It's a bit boring if you ask me. The only time Mads did the same dance routine on a tour was Don't Tell Me in DWT and RIT but even RIT was changed a bit ad something new to it. It's not that she's lost anything. It's just that the whole thing was an illusion from the start. Look how hugely her lyrics went downhill after secret songwriting partner Rene left. It wasn't just a slight dip, it was a twenty-four-story-suicide-jump. It's hard to think that was just coincidence. Look at the huge change in her performances from '84 to '86. Was that because Janet improved or just because someone hired Paula Abdul to choreograph her? The answer seems obvious to me. As for the tough attitude, that seems to me to have been dictated more by the tough sound of Jam and Lewis than anything else. And let's not forget Janet has always been an actress. So like you said I don't think she ever really was that in the first place. But then, I never did. From just skimming the other thread it seemed like even the Janet fans who were praising the film weren't saying all that much about her performance. It sounds like other people in the film were shining brighter. Which is no surprise. Janet's acting has always been a little.....flat. Yup. Although there was one particular scene in the movie where I thought her acting was a little above average, her acting in the movie overall was hardly anything to write home about. The Janet fans saying things like "Omg she was so amazing" are either straight up lying or just in denial. Her acting wasn't that impressive in the movie at all but I have to say that it was smart of her to take a role in this film since it turned out to be a hit. This can only be a good thing for her. I cant imagine Maddy even tryin to do Rhythm Nation Janet..we just miss the good old days when her albums used to say something special. Now that her real hardcore fans are about 25 - 30 years old, we just want her to GROW Something that Madonna has been doing ever since True Blue...we have seen her progress musically after each and every album. Every LP she did sound different than the next. She switches the game up and leave you wondering what she's going to do next. I'm waiting for a time where Janet can do a song by Bjork sucessfully. In '98 Rene said one reason he didn't take credit for the songs he wrote was because he didn't want her family thinking he was totally taking over her life. In '01 he confessed the main reason was because he and Janet wanted to make her look good in the industry. There was a fascinating interview she gave in '01 with a black British woman's magazine (Essence?) where she was asked about this. She said it was true and that for years she'd been uneasy giving interviews because she'd have to talk about Rene's ideas as if they were her own. She also asked the interviewer about Craig David and whether he was really as nice as he seemed, because a lot of artists apparently are totally different in private to what they seem in public. I mention that in the hope it might jog the memory of someone else who might actually have a copy of the magazine. what's to explain? no one was willing to put on the show and no one was willing to go see the show. it's no secret, so let's not make up some b.s. after the fact. besides, she didn't tour in 2004 when she was planning to either, for the same reasons, and there was no new label involved in the decision at that time.
another jackson unwilling or unable to face reality. and besides, all you have to do to see a new janet jackson tour is put on a VHS or DVD of any of the last 4 and mute a few of the newer songs she played on whatever tour that was and play whatever your favorite songs (if there are such things) from the new album in their place. it's the same fucking show year in and year out, so why bother to do it at all? You might want to re-read my earlier post to avoid further confusion. What I said was that Janet's style of performance completely changed after she hired her first choreographer Paula Abdul. Compare an '84 performance with an '86 performance and you'll see that. I never made any comparison to later performances since that wasn't the point. The fact that her choreography improved further when she hired a new choreographer for Rhythm Nation only further strengthens my point, i.e. it's the choreographers that make the difference, not her. As for Rene's contributions you obviously didn't hear what I said. Let me type it out again. Both Janet and Rene have seperately confirmed that he was a secret songwriting partner for years. If you don't believe that then maybe you should tell Janet since she seems to disagree with you. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

didn't madonna sleep her way to the top (thats what i heard)... because she seriously didn't have talent.... she can't sing well, and definitly NOT the best dancer.... so I guess if janet was poor and sleept her way into getting a record deal.. you would give her more praise... Janet was a kid living in Gary Indiana... before the jacksons had all that money.. so YES janet didn't always have the fine things in life.... IF this was beyonce... I doubt people would be bashing her.. and she lived a pretty decent life.... Jacksons hit big in the 60's (68, i believe) .. so yes.. Janet was rich with everything she wanted ..

They were famous for being at the Apollo in '68, they released their first single in '68 under a different label but their first "smash" was released at the end of '69 and became number-one in early-'70.

WHATEVER... if janet had NO talent she would not have been around... if she didn't have something about her... then... SHE still would have NOT lasted this long..... so she must be doing something right....
In america you can go from poor to rich.. and rich to poor... so there is NO guarentee..... Janet is special... whether you want to not admit it.... or not.... I doubt you guys can acomplish what janet has done... even if you grew up "rich" like janet.... (and the jacksons were NOT that rich when she was lil...)
