I remember Oprah talking about how she was prepped to not to ask a celeb a certain hot button question, and she went ahead and did it. She said that she had one chance to talk to a certain person and that was it

Dude, I am sooooo over the superbown incident, but to me, it's just not that serious....at all (the hooplah over the interview).

Poor journalism, rich journalism, whatever. The journalists convey their opinions anyway. As someone with heavy radio background, I can tell you that a lot of the top jocks ask craaaazy questions.

Being objective has its place, and being stupid is also there as well.

Yeah, dude was a cheese, but the uproar about it was lame

Agreed that radio jocks aren't journalists and neither is Oprah, she's a talk show host, now her job is definitely to generate controversy, or at least get people talking.

Print....is one of the last places were journalism is still a very serious thing. That's my opinion. It's way more in depth. Broadcast glazes over the story and leaves out a lot. I know that because I've done news. I did it for 6 years.

I agree with you on that point. I write for a newspaper where you get a good amount space to fit in all the important points of a story. Whereas, on TV you usually get 3 minutes...or less to get to the point of a story. On top of that, there's pressure to make it "entertaining" too. That's probably what this reporters story was.

When I did news, I had 3 minutes for traffic (1 minute) weather (30 seconds) sponsorship (15 seconds) and news (1:15 minutes). It was a three line summary story, I had room for two or three "stories".

well i don't see what all the huff was about when Janet doesn't even "make" the movie good, it was that other chick, i think her real name is Tasha Smith, her ass was funny as hell and without her in it, that movie would had been boring as shit....with or without Janet in it.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

confused

Janet is still the draw on come levels.

She still didn't deserve this mistreatment.

What I'm concerned is that they claimed they were sending out emails to those who complained and yet they made sure everyone saw the interview posted up on their front page.

Why not just post the apology on the website....on the front page.

So, a reporter is repremanded for asking hard questions? Where have I seen this before. Oh, yes, the war coverage.

Janet Jackson is not immune to tough questions, if she doesn't want to deal in that realm she really should hide out with Michael and let Tyler handle all the movie hype.

I'm just like....didn't everyone learn from Poetic Justice of how a crappy actress she is? And when was the last time Janet had a top 40 hit?

Did she whisper her lines in the movie too?

its not about tough questions, the superbowl had nothing to do with this new movie. the way this guy came at her was crazy and he continued to try and bait her even after tyler reminded him why they were there.

why attack janet's career because some reporter tried to earn his stripes by disrespecting her on air? how immature is that. and to answer your question her last top 40 hit was last year's 'call on me' (#1 r&b), and no she did not whisper her lines, she did a great job in the movie like the entire cast..stop hating

From your response i'll take it that you didn't see the interview..People was not upset because he asked hard questions .. It was the manner that he did that pissed people off... If you didn't witnessed the interview then you shouldn't be adding your twocents and if over 19,000 people thought something was wrong then that should tell you something

Kinda wish it was the general manager apologizing on his behalf since he had been fired, but okay.

that was a nice apology...i grew up watching mark and he has always had that smarmy ass attitude...it works when he is making cultural commentaries but probably isnt that smart when interviewing...especially when the guests don't know what they are getting into.

with that being said, i do think he was justified in asking a question about the incident but where he errored was the repeated references...he should have quit while he was ahead.

According to my coworker, the guy that made the remarks to Janet during the interview, was on a NY radio station today (I think 98.7) apologizing for his comments during his interview with Janet.

i wish Janet would grow a pair whenever people bring up the incident. but she shot herself in the foot by making excuses, then saying it was intentional, then avoiding it all together. acting like she can't hear the questions on her ear piece when it becomes about the superbowl. lame!

i don't think anyone should count her out just yet, but if she keeps being so 'wishy-washy' about every aspect of her career, then maybe we should. shrug

Um, I can write a letter complaining to a station regarding their tackiness and be concerned with world events at the same time. Call it a gift.

She's not that crappy... she is OKay.. i have seen worst.. BEYONCE, madonna, even britney.... JANET is a better actor then these people...

but oh well..... its not that she is so crappy... its just weird seeing her face on screen... YOU cant think of her as being anything else then Miss Jackson... and her voice can be a little annoying at times...
