Station responds to fans' complaints about Good Day interview

Sacramento television station KMAX is sending the following e-mail response to fans who have sent the station complaints regarding certain questions one of their anchors asked Janet during her recent interview on Good Day Sacramento:


Thank you for contacting CW31. We have reviewed the many comments we have received regarding our interview with Tyler Perry and Janet Jackson that aired on October 11. As a result of the numerous comments received, we have carefully reviewed the segment and have reassessed the approach taken by Mr. Allen.

While we certainly did not intend to offend anyone during this interview, we do sincerely apologize to anyone who may have been offended, including Ms. Jackson and Mr. Perry.
We take seriously the feedback we receive from our viewers and thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.

Tyler Perry defends Janet in latest internet message

In his latest internet message to his fans, Tyler Perry writes about defending Janet during their recent live television interview on Good Day Sacramento:


And speaking of venom, what they did to Janet was unacceptable. Janet, who was under no obligation at all to promote this movie, sat with me while I was doing a round of TV interviews. Half way through the three hours of sitting in the same spot she was attacked by a reporter on a Sacramento morning show who only wanted to talk about the Super Bowl incident.

Now, I made it perfectly clear before we went live on the air that I wasn't talking about the Super Bowl or Janet's family. We had less than 5 minuets so I wanted to keep it positive and focus on the movie. But he didn't want to keep it positive. I had to maintain my composure because we were live on the air. I didn't let her speak. I kept jumping in because it was just so unfair to her. I have not seen Justin Timberlake attacked like that. I wasn't going to let them do that to her. Believe me when I tell you--Janet worked so hard on this film. She deserved more respect from this man than that! We both did.

There's a war in Iraq, a recession, poverty....and people get their panties in a ruffle about an interview with Janet.

Sometimes I find this whole celebrity thing really pointless and stupid.

Reporters as a general rule ask questions that generate controversy. Like it or not, that's part of their job.

I'm a journalist (not broadcast, print) and that is poor journalism. Good reporters are not supposed to generate controversy, that is not, nor has it ever been their job. A journalist's job is to report all sides of the story when it comes to news, breaking news or otherwise.

The biggest problem with this person's work is that the Superbowl Incident is no longer news. It hasn't been since three years ago, unless of course there was some new development, which there hasn't been. So, in essence, this was just a cheap shot, cause obviously this guy wasn't interested in the movie. And if Tyler Perry had reporters NOT to ask about the incident before the interview--this guy was doubly wrong.

Dude, I am sooooo over the superbown incident, but to me, it's just not that serious....at all (the hooplah over the interview).

Poor journalism, rich journalism, whatever. The journalists convey their opinions anyway. As someone with heavy radio background, I can tell you that a lot of the top jocks ask craaaazy questions.

Being objective has its place, and being stupid is also there as well.
