When I heard the snippet of SOOT I was like  . After listening to it several times I take it all back. I know there are songs by P you can't cover and I thought that was one of them. I was wrong.
Funk This is one of my favorites this year. It's really really good. Very old school and probably the best she's put out in a long time. Prince should borrow a page or two from Ms Khan. He needs to do what she did...go back to his roots! Christian Zombie Vampires | |

I almost met Chaka Khan about six years ago. I was walking to my local Wells Fargo Bank branch in LA which is inside of a grocery store. I am walking through the parking lot and and see this very tiny woman getting into a baby benz and some dude was chatting to her and she was just smiling and smiling I said "Goddman! That must be Chaka Khan." I got closer and could see it was Chaka Kahn. I start walking slower hoping that dude would be making a quick exit which he did not, because I am not about to walk over to her parked car and FORM A LINE, or am I??? I proceed into the grocery store - I figured oh well it's LA I'll run into her again some other time. I get inside the grocery store and go over to where my bank branch is at and I'm standing on line and apparently Chaka Kahn indeed had just come into the bank branch and purchased a money order or something because *everyone* was smiling and happy because she had just left. Everyone was buzzing about it. Then I got really pissed at myself for NOT forming that line.
In conclusion - YES the new Chaka Kahn LP is awesome. It is the best thing she has done since "I Feel For You" and definitely much funkier. Mabye her best album since "Ask Rufus" if that is actually possible at 52 years of age. | |
