The Salt N Pepa Show on VH1 Okay so who saw this tonight? And what are your thoughts?
I've always loved them, but to me I think Pepa is made to be way too desperate for money and Salt is way too demanding for Pepa to change her ways. I respect the fact that Salt has changed and grown up and found GOD and all, but I felt like she should respect that Pepa is still the same Pepa and that's how she is. She likes to be sexy and wild. That was my only bone to pick with the whole thing. Also if Salt was so confident in her new found life, then why is she so fragile around Pepa? Like when Pepa was giving the guy a lap dance showing how she was going to perform, Salt took her in the back and is laying down this whole "well I compromised by even being here with you" as if Pepa owed her something. But anywho, I'll keep watching the show. Did ya'll hear about the rumour that they got into a fist fight on the set of the show? Don't know about you, but I can clearly see how it could have happened. Also Spinderella was reportedly upset because she wasn't even asked to be on the show. Plus she is still upset that Salt and Pepa took a bigger chunk of their share of money on their last tour and left Spinderella with hardly nothing. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

My only bone to pick is the wack song they did. Why couldn't they have done "I'll Take Your Man" or "Tramp"? Cause it was in church? LOL. Yo, I always thought Salt was finer, but Pepa was the BEST. She has stayed down. She reminds of a whole lotta women I used to know back in the day. I love Pepa and enjoyed the show immensely. I will never forget the first time I heard "The Showstoppa" booming out of the back of someone's car while walking home from football practice summer of 1985. NEVER!!! Real hip-hop - sweet memories.

The show was interesting. I'm always amused at how some people can't move on with their lives. Entertaining show.

I watched and will probably continue to watch. I really thought it was lame that Salt took offense to everything Pepa wanted to do. I understand the lapdance but come on! Humans are sexual beings...Salt acts as if she never walked around naked before!
Changing the lyrics to 'Whatta Man' for the church performance...again...lame...I have no problem with Salt finding God and all but c'mon! Loosin up a bit! .. Every minute of last night is on my face today....

I think alot of whats in the show is over played and seems sooo fake...it's like they are trying to make Salt be this prudent, judgemental, stay at home church mom who has bible studies with her church group, while Pepa is wild and crazy off the chain party animal...just the way the editing of the whole show is and how they broke from the clip of Salt and her lady friends all calm and reserved to Pepa and her friends all hoodrat and buckwild just seemed so fake, forced and contrived. I couldn't watch it all the way through...and I love S&P. I am not African. Africa is in me, but I cannot return.
I am not taína. Taíno is in me, but there is no way back. I am not european. Europe lives in me, but I have no home there. I am new. History made me. My first language was spanglish. And I am

I'm still downloading the episode here. I get kinda turned off when artists (Prince!) soften up their lyrics to something that does not fit at all, but I don't mind an edit here and there if it is more appropriate. It's that balance I hope Salt N Pepa can find. "Push It" is not that dirty to begin with, imho.

Yeah..but changing the lyrics was lame. Just dont perform at a church. Whats wrong with a lil bit of sexy dancing at any age? The song is sexy and fun...seems the crowd would've went for it... YOU have to understand... that Salt has been through some spiritual things.. there is NO turning back... (YOu guys do not understand how i think about the world... and probably not how Salt thinks... but I understand her completely) and seriously... YOU will be accountable... the more you know.. the more you will be accountable... and a christian, married woman with kids.. should NOT be performing on some strange guys lap.... its NOT right... (I base everything in whats right in the sight of GOD) honestly Salt should have just said NO.. because there is NO way avoiding those kinds of things when you sing worldly music.... NOW if salt wants to get back in the music business.. .then christian/gospel music would be best for her.. I feel bad for pepa.. but maybe she should try to Go solo...

I already understand all of that, i'm just saying if Salt has changed her life and her ways and it works for her, then more power to her, but don't try to change other people the way your life has changed. It's like she was trying to force Pepa to adhere to HER demands only. Pepa did way too much compromising. Plus if Salt really loves her life the way it is, then why did she even sign up for this show? I do agree with you when you said that she probably shouldn't have done the show. Don't get me wrong, I love when people are able to change their ways to make their lives more positive and better, I mean I love that, but it's another thing when you seem way too sensitive about how other people live their lives. If Salt was so confident in her "new" lifestyle, then why does she always seem so threatened by Pepa's presence and her ways? It's like she is afraid Pepa is going to change her back to her old ways or something. A bit strange to me. [Edited 10/16/07 15:24pm] I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I loved it. I practically grew up with these women, not literally but I was there from beginning to end of their time together, and found it so intriguing to see these women so many years later. I thought the opening seen where they first met with the manager was very good. Even if it was a little acting, I thought it captured the tension of what Salt N Pepa have been through over the years.
