Lance Slams Justin in 'Out of Sync'

Lance Bass Slams Justin Timberlake For Quitting ‘N Sync

Lance Bass, a former “’N Sync” star, felt “completely betrayed” after Justin Timberlake announced he was leaving the boyband in 2004.
Speaking honestly about the band’s split for the first time in his new autobiography, the singer admits he was angry that Justin Timberlake waited two years after the group went on hiatus in 2002 to reveal his news.

In the upcoming “Out Of Sync”, Lance Bass revealed Justin Timberlake blamed the group’s break-up on his four bandmates after suggesting they were interested in other ventures.

In his book, Lance Bass wrote, “He didn’t think any of us was operating in the best interest of the band. I asked him what he meant by that, and he said, ‘Well, you know, when y’all did your movie,’ meaning Joey (Fatone) and me (and their 2001 film On The Line)… I couldn’t believe it. That sounded like the lamest excuse imaginable. Joey and I looked at each other in amazement… According to Justin the whole reason for the break-up of ‘N Sync was everyone else’s fault? That was crazy! All of us had done nothing but wait around for him to feel he was ready to start work on a new ‘N Sync album… And hadn’t Justin made a movie (2000’s Model Behavior) the year before we did ours?… I felt completely betrayed… It pi**ed me off that Justin’s life got set up perfectly before he came back to the rest of us… Justin’s time to become a solo star had arrived.”

hmmm
Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

Phew... I agree with Lance all the way!

Well, he was always my favorite member, but Justin just gets on my nerves these days. I had no idea he was really this big of a jerk. Gives me another reason to loathe him as much as I do.

All Justin has going for him is a pretty face and his dance moves. He doesn't write his own music or play an instrument with his music. Even if he does co-write a little, his music still is part of the whole degradation in the quality of mainstream music today.

woot! 4 Lance 4 coming forward with the truth woot!

I don't understand. It says the group was on hiatus for two years. I'd leave the band, too.

Unless of course, Justin was the reason for the hiatus in the first place, in which casse he an a-hole!

It sounds like he left them hanging for 2 years until it was obvious he wouldn't return to recording with them.

I don't think that sounds all too far out of human nature though. Let me try this solo project but have this group to fall back on if it flops. By 2004 it was too obvious that not only was his solo project a success but he was completely in his mode right there. He probably tried to make himself feel less guilty by pointing out what everyone else was doing outside of the group, but probably more to explain that NSync was over.
I mean, I thought NSync was done the moment Justin stepped out to perform "Like I Love You" in September 2002 on the VMA's.

It sounds to me that Justin's management team at the time put him up to it. His excuse about the movie sounds like a calculated move to me.

Now, I'm not saying that it wasn't time for N'Sync to go, because it was. They had run their course. Come on, we all know that most boy-bands/groups only last between 2 to 5 years. By that time, the "stars" of the group try to step out on their own. This has happened since the beginning (even with groups like the Temptations).

It also sounds as if Lance is a little bitter. Come on, we all know he wasn't the most talented member of the group. JC and Justin were clearly marked as stars. Lance, Joey and Chris was just their backup. Besides, did we ever hear Lance sing? I don't ever remember him being in the spotlight on any song, but I don't have all of their cds either.

Tell me, does anyone know if N'Sync got stiffed by their management team? Those guys sold MILLIONS of records. They also sold a shit-load of merchandise including lunch boxes, pencils, pens, folders, shirts, coffee cups and bubble gum among the least to mention. I hope each member of the band got paid properly.

I'm also sure that the book tells of his "coming out" stories. Can't wait to read about his sleeping with guys on the road (if he wasn't one of Lou's bitches like we read about a while ago).

Yeah it sounds like he did just leave them hanging and maybe thinking they were going to work again together and then boom he was solo. And to be honest i did think they were going to record again, i didnt think he was going solo, or at least staying solo. But did we expect anything else from a pop group thrown together by a bunch of producers. Its not like any of these guys grinded it out for years playing clubs and shit, they were handed EVERYTHING, songs, outfits, producers etc etc..

I honestly never thought this. When I saw them promoting 2001's Celebrity album at MuchMusic when it was released, I could tell the group was cracking and Justin was really dying to do something more R&B-ish. Even that 2000 joint, uh, No Strings Attached, the way Justin was promoting some of that stuff ("it's got soul") you could tell he was deluding himself to stay happy. Soon as he got that freedom to do what he wanted, I knew Justin would stay solo.

Chris seems to be doing well--he was featured on a brief VH-1 reality show this summer called "Mission: Man Band" which was shot at his house in Orlando (www.myspace.com/sureshotband). The house is pretty sweet.

the funny thing is that people will praise the Timberlake move and then when someone like Beyonce or Nicole leaves their respective groups they are cold-hearted bitches? On the Timberalke topic their is still an Nsync album owed on their contract, which most likely be a retrospective, so with that known its pretty clear they were due to record at that time. But like i said Nsync wasnt like a real group anyway, they were thrown together by producers and handed careers, there was no struggle whatsoever, and yes Timberlake was handed his solo career too, by the same people, and the others were cut loose, nature of the business.

I've seen a video of Justin last tour and he his really good imo: with musicians like Mike Scott and John Blackwell in his band he could have been ridiculous and he isn't, I think that he has worked hard.
