Roy Ayers 'Everybody Loves The Sunshine' (his 1976 album)

Here's another CD I bought this weekend:

I'm familiar with the hypnotic title track, and "The Third Eye" and now I can't wait to get into the other songs.

70s R&B fans.....are y'all hip to this album? lol

Harlepolis

It was the album that hipped me to the 70's(along with Isaac Hayes' Shaft OST).

The thing that amazed me the most about his work, is his ensemble,,,,he got the MOST impressive line-up of musicians working under him, with him, for him or however you wanna put it lol

He reminds me of Quincy Jones in that way, by surrounding himself with greatness.

I remember reading somewhere that Lionel Hampton tipped his hat off to Roy when he saw him live,,,,that says it all I believe.

Super album. One of those where from the first cut you'll never skip a track.
Outside of the obvious cuts, The Golden Rod is one of my personal favorites.
All his albums are tight but it seems his 70s period was just especially vicious.

Unfortunately, no. I've seen it around at a local record store... for 30€. I need to KNOW it's a good album before I invest that much into it wink

Thus far, I only have three Roy Ayers albums anyways, A Tear To A Smile, Mystic Voyage and Everybody Loves The Sunshine. A Tear and Voyage are soooo much better than Everybody, in my opinion. You should really check those two albums out, if you already haven't.

don't miss Roy Ayers Music Project!

RAMP's Come Into Knowledge (1977) was reissued on CD this month so it is much cheaper to cop now (rather than the Japan import).
