The Chronic-Dr.Dre

There's only one thing to say about this Lp: headbang

Best rap album of the 90's!

One of the albums that sparked the end of music by influencing other people to make music just as dull as this album.

agree with you 100%....this "influential" album singlehandedly ruined rap and made it the joke it is today....lazy production, misogynistic lyrics, lame skits...pure nonsense.

Not to mention a sample mixed over a stripped down weak sounding beat that never gets past midtempo.

Did you ever see the video for "Nuthin But A G Thing" where they're trying to dance to it? There's a vainandy joke in there somewhere.

The album was messy but influenced tons of artists afterwards.

I wouldnt say its a classic...the skits were thrown in everywhere, and it was kind of messy...though it did feature some big hits. Its a good cd.

I love 'The Chronic' album. I still play it from time to time. It was a great moment in rap. This was a great record to follow-up of N.W.A.'s 'Niggaz 4 Life' album (as far as Dre's production is concern). With so many leftover tracks, it's a shame that no outtakes are offficially released yet except 'Deep Cover (187 um)' and '187 um'[(the 'Deep Cover' remix) intended on for 'The Chronic' album]. Those remixes/b-sides of the time for those singles like 'Dre Day', 'Let Me Ride', and 'Nuthin' But A G' Thang' are classics as well. It's a shame that Dr. Dre doesn't own the masters recordings or copyrights to all of this material because he deserves to, period. That's his art and is part of his legacy. 'The Chronic' is one of my all-time favorite albums and moments in times in rap. How many of u out there remember the promo commercial for 'The Chronic' album? Where Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, The D.O.C. and others came out of the smoked out car choking and walking crazy while 'Lyrical Gangbang' instrumental was playing in the background. Any Dr. Dre or Death Row fans, do y'all remember that?

they arent really insults...but as I guess for older fans and peole who werent fond of the Gangsta Rap breakout, it's their opinion.

I actually was one of the people who hated West Coast rap from 1992-1996. But after a while it grew on me. I only own Chronic 2000, Doggystyle and Blue Carpet Treatment. I had to hear The Chronic all the time from my mom's ex boyfriend playing it all the fuckin time. It got on my damn nerves after a while.

I do like The Chronic, Dre creates catchy beats, but he should have toned down the misogyny in the lyrics, that part I could do without.

Anyone who felt Dre's production work on TC was "lazy" has absolutely no idea what Hip Hop is and should never ever respond to a Hip Hop thread.

I like The Chronic, but best rap album of the 90s? No. It's got some weak shit on it, but I cannot deny its influence - good or bad - on hip hop.
