Old Punk group which was Legendary at CBGBS in N.Y. Well the Dolls were Great. David Johansen FUNKY,FUNKY BUT CHIC,Johnny Thunders I'M LIVING ON A CHINESE ROCK. Great Stuff You all and You should be Listening-up! Trust me you'll dig this group.David Looked exactly like Mick Jagger when he was Younger pre Buster Poindexter Period. Played at the old Ritz couple of times also. I Heard from my Aunt that he was Fabulous.

Pretty much nod, yeah.

I'm not familiar with a lot of their work, but I do remember liking one of their songs a WHOLE lot though I don't know the name of it. Punk, glam, all that...
This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

The New York Dolls ruled. Their debut is one of my favourite albums ever. Personality Crisis, Looking For a Kiss, Trash, Bad Girl...in fact the whole album is a killer. I always saw them as a combination of the Rolling Stones and The Ramones (even though they were born prior to Ramones) I dont think they ever got the recognition they deserved.

The Dolls rocked. Before my time, obviously, but I've learned to love them since.

NY Dolls were like an UBER-Rolling Stones, weren't they? Even camper, even bigger-mouthed singer; even better-haired, even junkier guitarist.

Have you heard their version of The Shangri-La's' "Give Him A Great Big Kiss"? Utterly chaotic, but wonderful in its own way.

There's a fantastic clip of them on the Old Grey Whistle Test DVD, doing "Jet Boy". Thunders keeps stumbling into Johansen to do the old back-to-back, mic-sharing thing, but Johansen remains completely still, just tilting towards the camera.

It's only when the camera pans back at the end that you realise why - he's wearing the world's tallest stilettos!
