FIVE STAR APPRECIATION THREAD The family vocal group of Deniece, Doris, Delroy, Lorraine and Steadman Pearson enjoyed several top 20 songs on the Billboard R&B Singles charts in the 1980s. The epitome of the 1980s look, Five Star wore oversized clothing, tons of makeup and other excessive trappings that reminded you of Michael Jackson. An even bigger teen success in their native England, their career took an MJ-like twist when they became such tabloid fodder that it overwhelmed their success. [Edited 9/24/07 21:39pm] THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. I never cared for them. Their music was a little too sugary sweet for my taste. Andy is a four letter word.

My biggest criticism of Five Star is that it seemed like they tried too much to emulate that Jackson family vibe. Not only did Steadman look like some Michael Jackson clone, I thought the girls looked like some cross between LaToya and Janet. Their music also had that early to mid-1980s Jackson style, particularly some parts of Janet's pre-"Control" style. Nevertheless, Five Star had several songs I liked -- "Can't Wait Another Minute," "Let Me Be the One," "Love Take Over" and "Strong as Steel." Always hear it on Sirius. Mostly the disco channel but also the 80s to now R&B station, too.

I was pretty surprised when I found out Steadman wasn't gay
His explanation for his look is pretty deep, though "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Is it just me or does Delroy somewhat resembles actor Dule Hill?:

I always thought Doris was gorgeous. And Delroy grew up to be quiet handsome. Steadman had some work done and looks a bit strange to me now. Denise is still very attractive but has lost too much weight imo. Lorraine still looks great. I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin.

OMG, take a look at this video of Denise SHAMELESSLY and Cheekingly showing off her wedding ring . The video is actually of Stedman Dancing but right before he performs, they go to the audience and speak to Denise where she makes obvious attempts to bring attention to her ring.
(The portion with Denise starts at 2:55) http://www.youtube.com/wa...pmfBkqegog I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin.

My god, I used to adore them back in the eighties. lol
I had all of their albums. Luxury Of Life, Silk and Steel, Between The Lines, RTW and even Shine. I remember looking for most of these albums again a couple of years ago but none of them were released on cd. A year later, BMG put together a triple disc set of all the first 3 albums so I bought it. lol Still loving it to this very day.
