damn i'm sorry, but i'm just confused by this arrest. other rappers when they get arrested, it's like yeah okay just another one biting the dust, but this one...i'm scratching my head on.

They said he bought a bunch of AK, machine guns and other weapons.

yeah i heard the same thing, i also heard they were found on the premises. I know how people in the limelight feel the need to own a gun for protection, and i understand it to a point, but i still dont understand the Assault weapons, machine guns etc...I mean if you are buying that who are you worried about getting you?

No Bail For Rapper TI After Weapons Arrest

POSTED: 6:05 am EDT October 15, 2007
UPDATED: 3:23 pm EDT October 15, 2007

ATLANTA -- Grammy-winner rapper T.I. was ordered held without bail during his initial court appearance Monday following his weekend arrest on weapons charges.

Clifford Harris, 27, appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Alan Baverman at the federal courthouse in Atlanta. Harris is TI's real name.

ATF agents from federal bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives arrested the rapper about 2:30 p.m. Saturday -- just hours before he was to take the stage at the BET Hip-Hop Awards. He was arrested in a shopping center parking lot where federal officials say he planned to pick up three machine guns and two silencers he had his bodyguard buy for him.

Authorities say other firearms were found in the vehicle he was driving and at his home in College Park.

Now this is where i have felt labels need to step it up, everyone is talking about "labels" enabling behaviours Amy Whinehouse and Britney Spears etc. But thats addiction issues which are "health" problems, something like this, if its proven to be, needs to be dealt with differently, this is where a label should be stepping in and saying, guess what "wanna play with guns, go play elsewhere" and drop the artist, i think that should be in the contracts from day one, if you are involved in a violent crime,abuse,buying/selling guns etc..then you will be let go. So wheres Sharpton on this issue, he jumped on the N and B word issue, this shit is where he should be focusing attention, guns are alot more powerful than words.

Damn, not T.I.! I actually like him. Both he and his wife are in jail, idiots! How can he be this stupid? Why did he need to purchase 17 machine guns anyway, what was the purpose? It is very unlikely that he'll beat this case. I say he'll get AT LEAST 10 years in the slammer sad.

Um, please have proper permits and registration especially Black men. And for the stupid thugs out there, that's just one of the effects of pushing the government drugs on your community, after you get out of prison, you wont be able to protect yourself. Now I guess TI knows who the real kings are. FOOL!

Unbelievable.

The only one smiling today is T.I.'s lawyer because to get him off this will take millions of dollars. And even then...what could the defense be?

Any *one* of those weapons can kill a lot of people. Those aren't hunting rifles. The fact he had so many in his possession and was attempting to buy more?

It would not look for good for Charlton Heston, much less a black man under 30.

The people who vilified Imus (who's donated millions to charity), and Michael Vick (who unjustly murdered and sponsored the deaths of many dogs) won't say three words about this case.

If you were the defense lawyer, what would YOUR case be?

Well first thing I'd need to know would be what were his motives for buying all those machine guns. I mean he better have a damn good defense for this (though I don't know how he can possibly defend attempting to purchase guns illegaly). I can't think of any reason why he would need all of those unless he was planning on going to war but since we all know that's not the case, I'm wondering what his defense will be . The only thing I can think of that he can use as a defense is coercion or entrapment but whatever the case, his lawyer has his work cut out for him.

Or you could use the Richard Pryor defense: "Who you gonna believe? Me or your lying eyes???"

The Shaggy Defense "I wuzzn't me."

The O.J. Defense: "I was in the shower, asleep, shagging golf balls at the time of the purchase..."

Why are you so surprised at TI owning guns (big guns at that). I would be surprised if someone like Common or Pharrell owned those types of gun, but TI. Dude is a former 'caine dealer.

No i wasn't surprised that he owned guns, i'm surprised at the fact of the amount of guns they claim he was purchasing and how he always be talking about how he don't have to be violent and uses his living as a rapper as a profession. I just thought he was one of those intelligent ones.
