Nah. Aaron and Kelly had a lot of resemblances back in the day though. their Bald heads. their Sunglasses. their Voice. and their Egos.

Phunkdaddy was joking in a sense, but the reason there is a resemblance is because R. Kelly swiped Aaron Hall's style and look. Whenever Hall would look or do something, Kelly copied it.
THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. HOLD ON TO YOUR DRAWERS!

Is that aaron hall on the cover of 12 play? lol

R. Kelly not only raped Aaron Hall's look, but the "12 Play" album was based on the concept Hall had of his solo album before Guy's break-up: namely, an album filled with sexually charged and aggressive ballads.

Wasn't there some beef between them back in the day? I remember reading somewhere that Hall once said (jokingly) that Kelly should thank Hall for his success due to their similar styles.

R. Kelly literally aped his vocal style and appearance after Aaron Hall. "Born into the '90s" was basically R. Kelly and Public Announcement sounding like Guy (and Kelly impersonating Hall in particular). Hall was planning to make an album full of sexually charged ballads with Teddy Riley before Guy broke up, and it was public knowledge; Kelly stole the idea and came out with "12 Play."

It's not a coincidence Hall and Kelly look similar. When Hall shaved his head and grew a goatee, Kelly did it. Literally, everything Hall did from 1990 through 1993 was swiped by Kelly.

That's part of the reason why some people have never accepted R. Kelly as a talent on his own; for the most part, he's based his career on swiping other acts' personas while rarely showing a distinctive persona commonly associated with artists of his long-running success.

A great choice, though I have nightmares of working in a school and little girls singing "Freak Me" while I was going down the hall.

This one was not quite as popular as Silk, but still a decent offering:

The group is Portrait. They were known for the hit singles, "Here We Go Again" and "Honey Dip," from their debut album.

Gerald Levert (R.I.P. 1966-2006) was another legend in the new jack swing era...

Yeah....there's quite of few up there on those lists that were not a part of New Jack Swing.

There were more singles than entire albums.

Hell....Boy George had a New Jack swing SINGLE.

I think the more appropriate title is "hip-hop soul," which not only incorporates the New Jack Swing but those soul artists who started incorporating hip-hop elements in their music.

But I agree, in any respect Jody Watley and Janet Jackson don't fit the bill. For the most part, I don't believe most L.A. and Babyface- and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis-produced music falls into this category.
