21 songs? Isn't that typical? It was over 2 hours. Maybe it looks short because the improvs aren't on the list. The second NYC show had two improvs to lengthen the setlist to 24 songs. Plus "Taxi Ride" was cut out of the encore because Tori ran overtime so she had intended to perform 25 songs total. It was 2 hours, 15 minutes long.

Man, I knew I should've gone to Buffalo!
Part of what is so great about this tour is that you never know which girl you're gonna see. But I wish I could predict it, cuz I'd really love to see all 4.

Is that Isabel? Can someone please summarize the qualities/differences in the four characters that she's playing? Freewheeling interpretations welcome! Because I'm not exactly sure what is going on with all this.

Is that Isabel? Can someone please summarize the qualities/differences in the four characters that she's playing? Freewheeling interpretations welcome! Because I'm not exactly sure what is going on with all this. That's Tori. Or TORI! Tori Tori (TerraTORIes) is based upon the Greek gods Demeter and Dionysus and is the voice of the tracks "Big Wheel", "Digital Ghost", "Father's Son", "Code Red" and "Posse Bonus".She appears to be a caricature of the artist herself, with promotional images released depicting the character holding sage and with a Bible in one hand and the word 'shame' scrawled across the other. The girls are: Isabel [HisTORIcal], a photographer, is a reflection of Artemis and is the most outwardly political of the bunch. She opens the album with "Yo George," a shout-out to our commander in chief, questioning what horribly dark road he and his crooked cronies have led us down, and closes the CD with the anti-war anthem, "Dark Side of the Sun." Clyde [CliTORIdes], who draws from Persephone. She wears her emotional wounds on her sleeve, but remains idealistic. "She is looking at the effects of not being a whole person. She is trying to figure out what she believes in and she is dealing with having been disappointed in her life," Amos says. Clyde is a little girl lost on the string-laden, gorgeous "Girl Disappearing" and on the heartfelt ballad "Roosterspur Bridge." Pip [ExpiraTORIal], who represents Athena swaggers her way through the driving "Teenage Hustling" and duets with Santa on the rollicking "Body and Soul." "Pip, being the warrior that she is, does confront issues and sometimes it's explosive, but I really love her energy and her casual approach to rubber." Santa [SanaTORIum] relates to Aphrodite and is the sensualist of the group. Through songs like the shimmery pop of "Secret Spell" or the wonderfully wicked "You Can Bring Your Dog" or the delightfully retro "Programmable Soda," "Santa is somebody who's a girl's girl," Amos says. "She understands her fellow sisters and she believes that there is enough love and passion out there for everyone. But she won't accept that there is something perverted about being very sensual and she won't drink shame with her sensuality."

Thanks MikeMatronki. I've listened to the new album but haven't studied the characters or seen liner notes. This is all very complicated. I think Clyde is interesting.

It has also been difficult to distinguish them! But the fact of having the live boots is helping alot. Also the ADP album is grower! Everyday I find something new. I'm not the most applied Ears with feet here at the org (Sassy and Gangsta are the ones), but I'm glad u liked my little posse 101! A great place to get Tori info is here: http://www.yessaid.com/ Oh...and great place to get those Tori goodies is here: http://www.hereinmyhead.com/sounds/ [Edited 10/25/07 16:53pm]

lookit mike breaking it down! makes me so proud.
personally, i haven't paid much attention to the characters. they are all elements of tori's complete character so, for me, its not different from any other tori amos record. we've got sensuality, sexuality, religious pondering and frustration, relationship examinations, and all of the standard introspective stylings we're used to. the only difference is she's fragmented them into personalities which really only plays out fully, like mike said, during the live experience. for those interested in the storylines, the idea of characters and blogs (for development) can be pretty cool. for me, though, i just want the music and the shows!

So my boyfriend took me to the Toronto show on Tuesday as a last resort. The person who was supposed to go with him couldn't, so he took me. I'm not what you would call a Tori fan. I've always been somewhat interested and owned Choirgirl (and liked it), but that's about the extend of it, aside from hearing my bf play her a lot (and being a fill-in concer-goer twice on the Beekeper tour).
anyway, third time's a charm. she got me with this one. I was lucky enough to see her as "Pip" so it was a rock-based show. fucking incredible. i really loved it. and i think i might be turning into a fan. it's probably the best Tori show I could ever expect to see as not-a-fan. it's probably the best show any non-fan could see to convince them otherwise. really awesome. don't know if the other characters' shows would be as interesting, but i loved this one. it was quite a surprise compared to the 2 solo Beekeper shows i went to 2 years ago. Okay, so I have a question...
So I got to see her perform as Pip in Toronto. The next show she did Clyde in Buffalo. Now Isabel in D.C. I'm supposed to see her in Detroit tomorrow night. What are my chances of getting Santa? She's the girl I want to hear most.
