October 13th
MUSIC AND DANCE SHOWCASE AND ALBUM RELEASE OF "TITUS"
On Master Dancer and Musician Titus Fotso will perform with special guest funk superstar George Clinton in a concert to release Titus’ premiere album "Iyelemba – Celebration," an exciting cross-pollination of traditional African singing and rhythms with modern dance sounds.
More than just a collection of songs, Iyelemba – Celebration is an experience of spiritual transformation represented through African lyrical storytelling. An album this unique necessitates a one-of-a-kind premiere event, and The Century Club in Century City will come to life with an exciting production combining music, dance and fashion.
Titus is the singer and composer of his own "Sangalo Music" sound and was the 1999 winner of the John Lennon songwriting contest in the World Music category. He performed at the U.S.A. World Cup Soccer Championships in 1994 and opened for the Rolling Stones Voodoo Lounge tour.
Titus’ roots in African rhythms run deep. He has been doing traditional African dance since the young age of eight, and when he was just sixteen years of age, he was invited to join the National Ballet of his native Cameroon. Titus’ early career in African dance has definitely been infused into his music, evidenced throughout Iyelemba-Celebration. But the tribal sound of the album goes beyond African music. Emphasizing the integration of tradition and modernity, this premiere album combines the heart of Titus’ ethnic origins with the revolutionary sounds of today’s dance culture.
Through his dance and his music, Titus Fotso hopes to help people around the globe rediscover their lost rhythm.
