Before his breakthrough, he released two albums with a singing group he formed, also called Luther, on Cotillion Records.[citation needed] The group had a successful single entitled "It's Good for the Soul", although their two albums, the self-titled Luther in 1976 and This Close to You in 1977, were not successful. Vandross bought back the rights to these albums after the record label dropped the group, preventing their later re-release.[citation needed]

If I am not mistaken, Luther Vandross reworked a few of the songs from the Luther albums and presented them again during his career. "The Second Time Around" was on his "Any Love" album. The most known one is the hit song "Don't Want to Be a Fool."
THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. HOLD ON TO YOUR DRAWERS!

For 2nd Time Around, it sounded like he used the same track from the "Luther" sessions and reworked the vocals.

I found the "Luther" album on ebay for $30. It is pretty good. I keep putting off transferring them to mp3. If you are willing to spend the money, they are worth it.
