There's a remix of that song???? Where can I listen to IT? Wrap My Body is one of JG's best ballads and best executed vocal performances!

Oh I forgot one more good new jack swing album:

That Sex You Down Some Mo' remix of "Don't Be Afraid" is my JAM! "I Miss You" is another classic tearjerker.

Anybody remember this one?

The remix to Johnny Gill's "Wrap My Body Tight" had a club/house sound and featured the vocals of Jackie Harris of Snap! fame.

I wouldn't necessarily consider some of the albums named as New Jack Swing albums, but here is one that I would put as one of the very best:

THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. HOLD ON TO YOUR DRAWERS!

I believe it's fair to say a lot of the albums being named are not "New Jack Swing" albums. When I think of that term, I'm thinking particularly of albums featuring the work or influence of Teddy Riley. We're now talking about acts outside of that influence and are concentrating on acts who created music between 1988 and 1994.

A couple of more suggestions, if we're talking about soul acts who emerged between 1988 and 1994:

I know I'm harping on the name, but wouldn't it appropriate to call the music subgenre in question "hip-hop soul," since it's more encompassing and "New Jack Swing" already has been taken? Or at least name the thread "New Jack Swing/hip-hop soul?"

Speaking of hip-hop soul:

I don't think Mary J's first release was considered hip-hop soul. That was in 92 and Hip-Hop soul didn't really come around until late 93 or 94, right.

If that's the case, this whole thread has no criteria. There are albums named that came out several years before Mary J. Blige's, and some of them aren't considered "New Jack Swing" albums. I feel the term "hip-hop soul" is more encompassing because the majority of the albums named used some of the beats and attitude that came from hip-hop and married with soul music (En Vogue, New Edition, Johnny Gill, etc.).

IMO, these are the top 20 albums of the hip-hop soul era (1988-1994). Of course, I have the right to change my list:

1.) Bobby Brown "Don't be Cruel"
2.) Keith Sweat "Make It Last Forever"
3.) "Guy"
4.) En Vogue "Born to Sing"
5.) Bell Biv DeVoe "Poison!"

6.) Mary J. Blige "What's the 411?"
7.) R. Kelly "12 Play"
8.) Tony! Toni! Tone! "The Revival"
9.) Boyz II Men "Cooleyhighharmony"
10.) TLC "Oooooohhh! ... on the TLC Tip"

11.) Al B. Sure! "In Effect Mode"
12.) Mary J. Blige "My Life"
13.) Jodeci "Forever My Lady"
14.) New Edition "Heartbreak"
15.) Keith Sweat "I'll Give All My Love to You"

16.) "Johhny Gill"
17.) Guy "The Future"
18.) New Jack City soundtrack
19.) R. Kelly and Public Announcment "Born into the '90s"
20.) En Vogue "Funky Divas"

12 Play is classic R. Kelly, right there! Listening to that album brings back some memories. There's one ballad on the 12 Play album that I play constantly and it's called "For You". "Seems Like Your Ready" is another light-night steamer. Dude got some killer vocal cords, man. He sucks mighty a** nowadays, tho. I'm a R. Kelly fan, so sorry if I offended some of u guys.

But this is his best one yet:

R. Kelly not only raped Aaron Hall's look, but the "12 Play" album was based on the concept Hall had of his solo album before Guy's break-up: namely, an album filled with sexually charged and aggressive ballads.

Nah. Aaron and Kelly had a lot of resemblances back in the day though. their Bald heads. their Sunglasses. their Voice. and their Egos.
