I think LA wants Janet to achieve the type of success Mariah did with Mimi. He will have the best a&r, promotions, marketing and anything else in the business to promote this project. He will probably oversee each track (with janet) to make sure it is current and hip (yet maintaining the classic Janet feel).

Now, I wouldn't b surprised if Jam and Lewis contributed a ballad or slow grind song with Janet, but that would be it.

Janet Jackson: "No, I'm working on it. It'll be out probably first quarter of next year. I'm doing something, still being who I am, I'll never shy from that. I'm working with a few people. I'm working with Ne-Yo, I'm working with Jermaine, working with Rodney Jenkins…"

Lamman Rucker: "They'll be doing a duet together."

Janet Jackson: "This is something different for me because normally it's myself, Jimmy [Jam] and Terry [Lewis] and always writing music and myself writing the melodies. This is a bit of a departure from [that]."

So Jimmy and Terry are not involved?

Janet Jackson: "As of now, no."

An R&B album without Jimmy and Terry....Ouch! She did say as of yet. They could swoop in and do at least a few tracks. It doesn't sound finished. I'll be very dissapointed if she is not working with Jimmy and Terry and not going to try do some dance pop like she did on DJ.

Working with Jermaine, Ne-Yo and Rodney Jerkins. Sounds like the seventh circle of hell of most Janet fans!

Janet talks to AP about new movie, album, book, and marriage

The Associated Press has released the transcript of a short interview they did with Janet where she discussed the new movie, her upcoming book, her views on marriage, and her new album.

When discussing her new album, Janet said that there still may be a chance that Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis could end up on it:


Q: What's your new album like?
