You all must remember that Janet is now apart of the LA Reid camp and he only likes his BIG acts to work with current and happening producers/writers. Jam and Lewis are definitely out as "pop" songwriters.

I think LA wants Janet to achieve the type of success Mariah did with Mimi. He will have the best a&r, promotions, marketing and anything else in the business to promote this project. He will probably oversee each track (with janet) to make sure it is current and hip (yet maintaining the classic Janet feel).

Now, I wouldn't b surprised if Jam and Lewis contributed a ballad or slow grind song with Janet, but that would be it.

good point.

LA's involvement was signalled by his escorting of Janet to the LA premiere of Why Did I Get Married, unofficially kicking off IDJ promotional efforts for the new album and signifying that JD will be relegated to the background.

Jackson: It's still me. I'm still doing myself, really. The reason why I'm saying this is because as of right now, I'm not working with (longtime collaborators) Jimmy (Jam) and Terry (Lewis). And if we're really going to work together on this album, I don't know. I'm not quite sure. ... Hopefully we can and we'll get together and be able to do at least a couple of things together.

An R&B album without Jimmy and Terry....Ouch! She did say as of yet. They could swoop in and do at least a few tracks. It doesn't sound finished. I'll be very dissapointed if she is not working with Jimmy and Terry and not going to try do some dance pop like she did on DJ.

Working with Jermaine, Ne-Yo and Rodney Jerkins. Sounds like the seventh circle of hell of most Janet fans!

At a recent press conference to promote "Why Did I Get Married?," Janet confirmed that as of now Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis are not involved in her upcoming album that she is currently recording:

Janet, are you finished with your next album? What direction are you taking?

Janet Jackson: "No, I'm working on it. It'll be out probably first quarter of next year. I'm doing something, still being who I am, I'll never shy from that. I'm working with a few people. I'm working with Ne-Yo, I'm working with Jermaine, working with Rodney Jenkins…"

(Tyler Perry points at himself and everyone laughs)

Lamman Rucker: "They'll be doing a duet together."

Janet Jackson: "This is something different for me because normally it's myself, Jimmy [Jam] and Terry [Lewis] and always writing music and myself writing the melodies. This is a bit of a departure from [that]."

So Jimmy and Terry are not involved?

Janet Jackson: "As of now, no."

is JANET STUPID ????!!!!! she must be... because why not work with Jimmy.... come on... just leave friends behind...

if janet does a hip-hop album... im so serious... if she has more then one rapper on her album... Maybe two... then Im not buying this album... Im seriously disappointed and haven't heard any of her music....

even if she let Jimmy and Terry produce a few songs or direct the album.. then that would be okay with me... but she just abandoned them.. and its so not cool mad

Someone remind Janet of that before she puts an orgasm on another record.

We don't have to listen to it. No one tells Prince what to write about, sing, play etc. Why what's good for him can't be what's good for Janet?

I'd love it if Prince would stop writing mis-informed, pseudo-political/relgious claptrap.

I can have an opinion, you know. You don't have to keep up this steady stream of rebuttal every time someone mentions anything critical of Janet.

Yes, we know we don't have to buy it. We know she doesn't have to follow anyone's advice. But we can still talk about it.

I'd rather Janet work with Ne-Yo than with Jimmy & Terry, who are, quite simply, over as producers.

You must consider that LA Reid is a control freak and gets exactly what he wants. He and Janet probably have a vision of what they want the project to be and I am very optomistic about this project. If he can turn Mariah's music career around after the "Glitter" fiasco, he can (hopefully) do the same with Janet. Let's face it, her career hasn't been on track since before Superbowl.

hmph!
I want Prince 2 continue 2 write and produce his own stuff. I'm not saying he shouldn't collaborate with others, but I like the fact he's in control of his own stuff.

see the update looks like they're is a chance that the new album will have
Jimmy and Terry on it

Janet talks to AP about new movie, album, book, and marriage

The Associated Press has released the transcript of a short interview they did with Janet where she discussed the new movie, her upcoming book, her views on marriage, and her new album.

When discussing her new album, Janet said that there still may be a chance that Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis could end up on it:

Q: What's your new album like?

Jackson: It's still me. I'm still doing myself, really. The reason why I'm saying this is because as of right now, I'm not working with (longtime collaborators) Jimmy (Jam) and Terry (Lewis). Many fans complain about Jermaine Dupri and the way he controls Janet's career, but I think L.A. Reid is even worse. He's gonna have Janet sounding like every other female R&B artist on his label, working with same tired producers.

Yeah, she's stuck in an R&B trap. It's a shame that many artists aren't willing to take risks and work with other producers who may not be as popular, but are more creative and edgy.

Ne-Yo? barf Jermaine Dupri? barf All she has to do now is call up R.Kelly and the cycle would be complete.

I don't feel Janet Jackson's age is the issue, but the fact that she wants to compete in an age-specific demographic. She's trying to gain an audience with people who not only are young enough to be her children, but likely those children's parents were fans of hers 20 years ago.
THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. HOLD ON TO YOUR DRAWERS!

The sad thing is...I bet she could make a really good dance/pop album,if she worked with some edgy, creative producers for a change.

Yes,Madonna is trying some R&B beats for her upcoming album, but it's not something she does all the time.Hell, the last time she did mainstream R&B was in 1994 lol She flips the script and tries new stuff all the time.

I think JD can be a good producer but his CURRENT SOUND is wayyy too sparse to support Janet's voice. e.g. "With U" was nice once the strings were in the mix (thank you Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis), but the track during the verses was barely present.
