Bobby Brown's Prognosis 'Great' After Mild Heart Attack

http://www.people.com/peo...32,00.html

Singer Bobby Brown was hospitalized with a mild heart attack but is in "great spirits" and hopes to perform this weekend, his rep said Wednesday.

"He's recovering nicely," rep Paedra Parks tells PEOPLE. "We thank everybody for their thoughts and prayers. We really appreciate the outpouring of support."

Brown, 40, felt chest pains Tuesday afternoon and "was rushed to the hospital," Parks says. By Wednesday morning, he was in "great spirits and has a great prognosis from his doctors." He was expected to be released later in the day.

Brown, who had not experienced heart problems before, is scheduled to perform at the V100 Taste of Soul concert and festival in Los Angeles on October 13th and still planned to take the stage.

"He's a performer," says Parks. "It's what he does best."

In addition to his new medical problem, Brown is in the midst of an ongoing divorce and custody proceeding with Whitney Houston, 44. The two are expected in an Orange County, Calif., court on Oct. 22.

I was gonna make a silly joke, but Bobby's fifteen minutes ended a long time ago. He, like so many others, blew what little talent he had with cocaine and the like. It got him booted out of New Edition, and is slowly ruining what's left of his life.

Not judging him, but there's a lesson out there for all the young cats who are trying to make it in something, anything. Drugs will steal it all away.

In the end, money, fame, nothing really matters.

Get well, soon, Bobby, and rebuild your life, man.

Bobby Brown denies having heart attack

LOS ANGELES - Bobby Brown denied Wednesday that he had a mild heart attack, something his attorney said earlier he had suffered this week in Los Angeles. The 38-year-old singer told Associated Press Radio that he is feeling fine and went to the hospital just for a checkup.

"None of it's true," Brown said. "I went in for a checkup. The doc gave me a clean bill of health."

His account differed from that of his Atlanta attorney, Phaedra Parks, who earlier in the day told The Associated Press that Brown had severe chest pains Tuesday night and was taken to two hospitals.

"This morning they did diagnose him as suffering from a mild heart attack ... they attributed to stress and diet," Parks said, noting that she had spoken with him.

She said Brown was released Wednesday morning from a hospital in good condition.

Parks could not be reached for comment after Brown made his statements. She did not immediately respond to a telephone and an e-mail message.

Brown, who has a performance scheduled Saturday in Los Angeles, said that the reports about him having a heart attack gave him a "jolt" and that he felt he had to speak out.

"I did go to the hospital ... to just get a checkup, get everything tested out so that I could go on this tour, and everything is fine," Brown said.

"I don't know where the heart attack thing came from," Brown said. "I got my heart and everything checked out earlier this morning, and I'm just fine."

Brown lives in Southern California. He is the former husband of singer Whitney Houston and is seeking custody of their teenage daughter.

No, Bobby Brown is not too young for a heart attack. He's nearly 40 years old and while it does occur more often in men age 45 and older, other factors (family history, diet and exercise, lifestyle choices, stress) can play roles. Given Brown's history with drugs, the lifestyle of being a recording artist (and in his case, one whose livlihood is virtually gone) and the noticeable weight gain over the years, it's not a surprise at all.

WTF?? Sometimes TMZ reminds me of a a rat scavenging a city dumpster for any scrap of food or trash they can get their germ infested little paws on. You don't publish pics of people in a freakin' hospital like this. This is SO not cool to me. There are private moments in people's lives that we as the public need not be privy to. Damn. disbelief

Doesn't surprise me at all. I saw 24 Hours With Bobby Brown and said that he would never make it past 55. I'd be surprised if he made it to 50. He was getting out of breath for no reason and his eyes looked like he'd never slept once in his life. He's so messed up mentally that I can't see him cleaning up any time soon, and sadly, much of the damage has already been done anyway. A shame cos Bobby was one of the most exciting performers I ever saw back in the day.
