When Micheal Jackson performed on the Soul Train Awards in 93 sitting his ass in a chair the whole time cause he had injuried his foot or something?

I loved this performane back then when it premiered, but now I look back and ask myself WHY? I mean its great that he went on despite injury but I don't know. this whole performance makes me laugh now.
