I love Bruce and think Magic is a good album and his best since BITUSA but it's not a Five Star album.

I'm more of a 'Born To Run' man myself but 'Magic' is excellent...just not 5 star excelllnt..but compared to the current musical climate...maybe... Every minute of last night is on my face today....

No shocker, Rolling Stone always gives five stars to rock legends who don't deserve it.

their classic low point was jann wenner's BLATANT asskissing of mick jagger in one of the most shamelesssly ludicrous reviews ever written: http://www.rollingstone.c...he_doorway (and i love how on the site they've gone back and changed it from a five star RS rating to no stars, but left the original ass-kissy review completely in tact. classy. )

How else do you explain them giving Musicology four stars? The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

Well Rolling stone has handed out five stars many times, but i just cant see how anyone can say something is perfect that quick, dont get me wrong this album hit me more than the "Rising" did, but i wouldnt say its perfect, i wouldnt say any record is perfect, if you can than why listen to anything else? But to me this would be "on early listens" a four star cd to me, i dont really give much cred to Rolling Stone especially after this year giving Mellencamps "Freeedom Road" only 2 1/2 and then in the same issue giving Ashley Tisdale 3 1/2 stars, i mean seriously now? Also in their RadioHead review for the new cd, they site KID A as their most famous record? really? did they poll loyal RadioHead fans, because the fans i hear say their best is still "Bends" and "Ok Computer" KID A is mentioned third. I've started thinking of 5 stars as not no much perfect, but just the top 20%. That gives a lot more freedom to rate stuff as 5 stars. My Legacy

That gives a lot more freedom to rate stuff as 5 stars. for me, 5 stars is something that i know i will still be reaching for when i don't know what else i want to listen to. that's not a designation i can make right off the bat, but i think these days i can clock a five-star (for ME, anyway) within two or three months from first listen...

So using that system almost nothing should get five stars. And I agree that's not a conclusion you can make right away, either. But I came to the "top 20%" conclusion rating Netflix films. Everything was getting 3 stars! Realizing that each star covered a whole 20% of the scale opened up my own rating system a lot. But using that system, 60% isn't a D, though. 60% is 3 stars which isn't too bad. Is this geeky enough for you? My Legacy
