"Blues Away" Appreciation Thread

This is favorite Jacksons song with That's What You Get For Being Polite being a very close second.

Here's the performance from the 1976 variety show:

Michael's first written song (recorded at least.) I remember the first time I heard that track when I was like eight way back in 1996. What memories.

It took awhile for this to grow on me, but I like it now. It's catchy and I like the how the emphasis is on the upbeat. Mike's throaty vocals on this one also blow me away.

I've always loved this Tune!! One of my favorites! I like the album version though, because the arrangements are more fleshed out--hard to get that feel outside the studio, without the strings and horns, I guess...

I don't get the hype. Sorry. Two Jackson songs that some fans are always going on about but I don't get the big deal about are "One Day In Your Life" and "Blues Away". Those songs are just okay to me.
"And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ heart

"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always heart

I'm with you on One Day In Your Life but Blues away is great. The melody, his vocals, just the Phily sound with those horns.

Okay I agree that his voice sounds great on "Blues Away" but what's the big deal with the song besides that? It's average to me. It's not catchy at all, doesn't make me want to dance or listen to it again. And how can anyone compare it to a masterpiece like "That's What You Get For Being Polite"? lol. I don't get it.
