Husband and wife Dan Boeckner and Alexei Perry just stole my heart with a really good performance in the upper room at Paradiso tonight.

Alexei working the drum-machine and weird noises, Dan playing guitar and singing. Totally unpretentious, awfully sweet and amazingly good. Loud beats, great lyrics and amazing guitar play. Boeckner is probably described as Ian Curtis, when it comes to motorics, if that is an excisting English word (too tired to look it up).

My sweet new bud Egbert bought me the vinyl record (of their debut album Plague Park) I was fawning at, which was also sweet was that Boeckner and Peryr were selling the merchandise themselves, which rocked, so I could tell them I enjoyed the performance and make them sign my vinyl.

I am a total fan now.

PS, when it comes to deliverance, intensity and simplicity, they blew Prince's three concerts I saw straight outa the water. Imagine Prince during that synth set, but while playing guitar over the beats he whipped out of that set.

Simplicity. Yes, please.
