"I..... can remember Wheeeeen we haaaaad, we haaaaad it alllll (reminisce on the love we haaaaad) And you and I.... And you and I.... (reminisce on the love we haaaaad)" That's one of the baddest intros in music history to me. That entire What's the 411? album is a gem. No filler on neither of them least IMHO. That and My Life are her defining albums to me.

That's easily of Mary's top 3 songs. The ONLY MJB album I own is "411" because it was one of the most important albums in R&B history. It introduced Hip Hop Soul from the female POV and it was a killer album. [Edited 10/8/07 19:14pm] nWo: bboy87 - Timmy84 - LittleBlueCorvette - MuthaFunka - phunkdaddy - Christopher

I absolutely adore this song! I love that jazzy, New-York production that was aided by Diddy. MJB nailed it with this song and it's truly one of the best songs she has done. Listening to What's The 411? brings back so many memories. Every track (with the exception of the annoying, dated interludes) on that record is a classic in my opinion. This album flipped the whole R&B game around and made Mary J an overnight sensation. I can't believe it's already 16 years old! Definitely my 3rd favorite MJB album... Check me out and add me on:

I hate to sound negative, but why does everyone say "My Life" is her best album. IMO, 411, Share My World, Mary, and Breakthrough all KILL My Life. I'm not saying that My Life is a bad album, but I never would pick it as a "favorite". As for Love No Limit. I LOVE THIS SONG!! **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

My favorite Mary song by far. It’s so catchy and jazzy, not too loud, not too dramatic. Nice video too. I thought she was going to continue in this musical direction. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

Most of MJB's fans, particularly her female fans, loved "My Life" for its lyrical depression so to speak and the album had a darker tone compared to her other albums. Particuarly an album Mary said she thought she was gonna die around that period. Apparently some insane fans think Mary should get back to being depressed to create a "My Life II" and Mary was like "fuck y'all. I'm gonna do me, I'm happy and I'm gonna spread the love!" Some Mary fans don't even dig the new song that much... can't please some people, man.

The "My Life" cd got me through alot of things at the time. You can hear her pain on that cd. Definately my favorite Mary cd. "POOR IS THE MAN WHO'S PLEASURES DEPEND ON THE PERMISSION OF ANOTHER" Madonna

I like it, but I listen to almost every other Mary cd before that one (including Dance With Me (The Remix cd)). **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

AFAIC, that album alone justifies sampling as an art. It's still the best overall listen. Of course, I wonder to this day why they never released the title track as a single. FWIW, here are my favorites from MJB: 1. My Life 2. What's the 411? 3. The Breakthrough 4. Mary Those 4 are head and shoulders above the rest (although I enjoy them all). As for "Love No Limit" and "Reminisce," I believe those two were written by the late Kenny Greene of Intro. Man, that man had a voice! Those songs prove he could write as well. Yep. I think Kenny was either gay or bisexual too. No I'm not making it up. He didn't come out then because he didn't wanna freak out Intro's female fans.
He was such a talent. And What's the 411 is her best album.
